Hi all.
We just returned from a 1600 mile trip and found coolant (chocolate milk) on the dipstick of our 165k mile 08 sequoia sr5 5.7. I was giving it to my daughter this month, so this blows. Anyhow, it's at a friend's shop to get pressure tested and CO2 tested. To my knowledge, it's never overheated and I'm fanatical about maintenance. We've had it since the 60k mark.
My question is : has anyone experienced head gasket failure (or anything else that would cause this) on the 3UR engine? Also, if it is a gasket, my buddy's shop isn't really equipped to do that kind of work. Does anyone know of a solid Yota shop in the north Houston area (I'm Northeast of town)?
Lastly, if I do have to rebuild this sucker, are there any vendors that sell decent, reliable NA engine upgrades that I should tackle at the same time? I looked at headers (the kooks are nice, but Holy $#! + are they proud of them... $2400?...negative).
Sorry for all of the questions and TIA.
Best,
BJ
