06 Cruiser in Portland, is this a reasonable price?

Took a look at this one on Friday, was very clean and looked good to me (I'm a novice, so I'm going to try and have it inspected, but I might have to beat someone to buying it)

Asking 19,995, seems like a good price to me but wanted to have you folks eyes on it and let me know if this is something I should try to jump on.

Trying to balance patience and timeliness on this, it's tough!

Oil prices keep climbing. Plan accordingly (purchase price vs value, running costs)

Yea thats too high, not good value. It’s your money but I’d make sure there is no rust and make sure those cats are OEM. If you can be patient, the right one will come along.

Yeah, definitely no rust but the 1 cat they replaced is not OEM. Gonna pass on this one, thanks for the reply.

Don’t be afraid to travel to find the right one or maybe one that needs some work, if your comfortable working on it, maybe you can find one for a good price that needs some work.

That place is a pretty famous lipstick-on-a-pig flipper. They get decent looking trucks, throw wheels and tires on them, polish them up, and price them really high for high mileage rigs. They're all auction rigs. No to say they don't have some good vehicles, but they'd probably be better for most 'MUD owners if they would not put shiny wheels on them and new mud tires in a size noboby probably wants for actually driving offroad and price them better.

Pass.

I look locally (SEA/PDX) almost daily. Its one of my coping mechanisms for surviving my new life on Zoom working from home. And I've seen this one, here are my thoughts:

Pro: its a 2006 (has the larger 275 hp 4.7l engine which is a plus), super clean, 2 owners local (the no rust thing is a big deal), fresh shoes and laces is a nice bonus

Con: cats (although does it really matter?), adjustable ride height feature (would guess its about done), mileage (have to plan on ongoing deferred maint projects well documented on mud)

Compared to other parts of the nation these things have a premium, so keep that in mind. You're still paying if you go out of state to ship it or self ship. If the carfax reads like a sheet of music and there are some service history records, I'd consider it personally. If you get really interested take it to a toyota specialist for a buyer's inspection? That way you know what you're in for. Lastly, its been sitting so they may be more willing to consider a lower offer?

Too high. Ask about upper and lower ball joints. Upper control arm bushings. CV axle boots. Steering rack. Bearings. Shocks. Exhaust leaks. At that mileage, and for that year, kbb private party median value for excellent condition will be substantially lower than asking.

Dang. Had a weird feeling about this, the guy was super chatty. Told me he bought it off someone in Seattle with the tires already on there, which I found a bit suspicious because they looked brand new. Bummer. Won't be looking there again I guess.

Thank you!

I guess I've missed this one in the past few months of looking, it just popped up for me about 2 weeks ago. They told me someone was looking to buy it today, so maybe I'll follow up later this week. Chatted with Land Cruiser Specialities and they can't get an inspection in until next week.

Though now I'm certainly questioning it from what someone said above, lipstick on a pig n such. Guy was a little sus, but I guess that doesn't mean it's a bad truck. What would you offer?

I'm not trying to get between a man and his money. Maybe he's legit, but there is a very clear pattern at that place. Lots of shiny, new wheels. Lots of over-shined new mud tires. Lots of miles. They tend to sit on the lot for a while, and they show up in batches, as if from an auction.

There might be a few good rides there, but do your homework and buyer beware.

That place has a very similar listing every time, shiny and waxed, with a cheap basket on top and blacked out wheels.
And the listings stay up for months because of the price.

Yeah maybe I’m just a sucker for the look, haha. The thing that makes me annoyed is he told me that he bought it with the wheels and tires on it. Said he fixed a few things

a lot of the independent dealers in Portland seem to buy these, clean em up, and sell them for between 20-30k. Which is appealing for me because it seems like they are trucks in great condition. I guess I’m their target demographic because their marketing is working ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nah this is the kind of stuff I definitely wanna know. I keep hoping that these independent dealers aren’t trying to semi-scam folks but that just seems like the case. Could totally be a good truck, but the fact that it’s auction vehicles is worrisome.

If they still have it next week I’ll probably get it looked at, and if it’s *actually* good I’ll probably consider it, but I’m definitely hesitant.

While I’ve got you all here, anyone know anything about this one in Seattle?

This one actually seems like a solid deal from a private owner

s*** i’ll sell you my 00 with 162k for 8k more and it has bumpers, suspension, drawers, 4 scheel-mann seats, audio, switchpro
