'04 Steering wheel on 2000?

Will it fit? Part numbers appear to differ. Near as I could find these below are the old and new part numbers (where xx denotes color code)?

'00
45100-60300-xx --> 45100-60302-xx

'04
45100-60490-xx --> 45100-0W170-xx

Anybody with any direct experience putting a later wheel on? Is it something that can be made to fit with minor parts/modification or is it the case that the airbag and/or wheel controls from the 2000 simply won't work?

I don't think so. Look at pics of the back of a 98-2002 versus a 2004-2007 steering wheel. There's pics in my steering wheel thread for reference.

It's a long thread, and the pics I had hosted on my old webpage are now gone. The text describing what I discovered is there, though. Just skip to about page 4 or so for the relevant info you're looking for - OR just look at the four pics below.

The clock spring interface that is cast into the wheel is not the same from 98-2002. The 2003-2007 LC uses the same clock spring as the Tundra/Sequoia/Sienna steering wheels. The 1998-2002 wheels had a Land Cruiser / LX470 casting ONLY and no other wheel will fit that I know of.

Early LC/LX Steering Wheel Clock Spring Interface vs. 2003+ LC/LX + Tundra/Sequoia/Sienna type wheel. Look at the casting shape on the BACK of the wheel.

Does the airbag cover/horn thingy from an newer model LX470, say 2003+ which has audio buttons, fit a teering wheel from a LX470 without audio buttons?
I noticed that you can buy these audio buttons seperately.

I've seen some 98s and 99s with the wood grain steering wheel. Maybe I'll have to find one wrecked and buy the wheel
