I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible. I would like to keep my factory gauge cluster but run all the gauges without the computer. I swapped a Cummins 4BT into my Tacoma and I need to start working to get my gauges running.

Pics! Sounds like a sweet set up, would love to see how the swap is configured

Did you happen to keep the sending units/sensors off of the stock engine? If so, you can adapt most of them (oil pressure, water temp, etc). For the tach, you're going to have to use a unit like what Dakota Digital sales that counts the teeth on the ring gear.

Would love to see/hear a video of your truck running.

What transmission are you using?

On my 80, the 4BT has the stock water temp, and oil pressure senders so you just plug those back into your main harness in the engine bay. The speedo/tach gets it's signal from a Dakota Digital module under the glove box that uses the stock harness to get the signal to the dash board instrumentation.

do you run this from the alt or from the crank? i wasnt sure if the factory guages were digital or analog signals. Is it possible to use one of these for the speedo as well?

This uses an induction pickup that counts the teeth on the flywheel. The signal from the flywheel pickup goes to the Signal In on the Dakota Box and then Signal Out to your tach in your dash.

Check out the installation manual in the link: http://www.dakotadigital.com/index....tegory_id=287/home_id=59/mode=prod/prd129.htm

Dude .. awesome swap ..

did you happen to know which it's your exact HB model ..?

and some tight spots ..

Thanks, Im not sure of the model, buy the guy at www.custompowerbrake.com is awesome. I sent the booster back to him a few times to get the fitment right and every time he refunded shipping. I think its just a GM booster but i dont know.

I think got my HB from the same guy ( found it in eBay ) but my gas can on my HB it's on the other side so against my engine ( exhaust manifold and turbo ) that's why Ia ask ..

I read through your thread on the 4bt forums. Sweet build. I don't have anything to offer for the gauges though. I'm not familiar with the 4bt and what type of signall they use.
