This has me perplexed. 2001 Tacoma, V6 base with tilt column and steering wheel lock, AT.
Thought my key ignition cylinder was bad, ordered new one but it was slightly longer and was supposed to fit according to NAPA after giving them these same details.
Went to install it and saw the barrel pin split. Everywhere I look it says the part is a 7580-2, but it differs slightly (it looks like it is keyed slightly different) and doesn’t have a steering lock mechanism on it. Mine that is stamped 7580-1 has that little lock mech but I can’t find it anywhere.
I don’t want to buy a whole upper steering arm column and looking at how it’s attached to the steering column, this looks like more work than I wanted to deal with. I could perhaps take the barrel pin out but then again it seems like it may not fit.
Anyone got any ideas? I don’t live on the mainland so no junk yards or pick a part and ebay yielded the part that probably won’t work.
