When I picked up the truck back in Sept ’24… the EGR issue was already there. Figured it’d be a quick fix… but man, it turned into a bit of a headache. I swapped out the EGR valve, tested the EGR modulator… that seemed to be doing its job. Still couldn’t get it sorted so I handed it over to a...
It seems like there are plenty of posts to diagnose most issues with the EGR system, but I think I’ve ran into a problem that’s not covered much.
I’m testing my EGR modulator. Looks brand new, clean filter inside, diaphragm holds vacuum when applying vacuum to the exhaust (bottom) nipple...
I'm still chasing the strange gargling exhaust noise at 1100 RPM. I replaced the O2 sensors, the EGR valve, the EGR vacuum regulator, vacuum lines, and the coolant temperature sensor. The catalytic converter test completes green, the O2 sensor and O2 sensor heater test cycle completes green but...
I am curious.. and since I can't seem to find the answer in the Lexus FSM or the Toyota version. Nor does a search here on MUD come up with an answer. I am certain someone here has the answer for me.
Port "R" on the throttle body connects to port "R" on the Modulator. I believe this to be...
I just bought this 1996 LX450 about a month ago and received receipts with the truck stating it had the EGR valve , modulator, and hoses replaced less than a year ago. I recently received a check engine light and my mechanic told me its throwing a EGR code.. Told me to just drive it and see if...
My 1995 passed on everything else, great numbers out the exhaust!
But he said, "The EGR Vacuum modulator had no vacuum. The EGR itself gets vacuum, so the failure is the EGR Vacuum modulator."
Is there a fix to the modulator, or do I have to just spend the money and buy a new one?
Threw code 71 yesterday so I have been reading threads and taking things apart to see what's going on. Pulled my modulator and vacuum hoses to check for carbon and it was pretty clean. Might even be somewhat new based on how clean the little filter is. But then I turned it over and saw this...
