This conversation started in another thread. Stone and I decided it might be more appropriate here. Its just an idea that came into my head and some of you guys might want to run with. If it goes, I'm sure somebody representing Prairie Dog Parts will be there showing some Belton Suspension product. Here's my comment from the other thread in which Stone was lamenting the fact that there is no more Cruiser swap meet...

"I agree. JP's guys are tight lipped about the real reason they don't do LC appreciation days any more.

I think it should be more like a trade show anyway. Some of the Lower mainland venders should get together and do it. Extreme Bends, G&S, LCI, TLC Off-road, Cruiser Mike, Kodiak etc. JP and Richmond Toyota might still be willing to play a lesser part. Venders from a little further away might want to show as well. It would be really cool to have Luxury, Outback, Rising sun, Mustangs etc all showing their JDM stuff as well as 4 Wheel Auto and Radd Cruisers with the aftermarket stuff. I'm sure there are more venders that I've missed (sorry). Could work it into a swap meet as well. What do you think guys?

Sorry about the hijack, should start this in chat or Coastal Cruisers I guess."

Me and Deny had the same idea, we were gona invite everone mentioned, and put up posters at every toyota and lordco, t+t, we also wanted to make t-shirs for the show too ( deny drew a prety cool symbol  ), we were thinking sometime in late spring early summer.

Steve says he's doin it, just as he said last year .......and the year before.... I think he's too busy,

The club should put togeter a good effort to get it done this year because it would be a shame to see another year go by with no cruiser days :crybaby:

If you spear head this thing, send me some poster etc and I will post up at the Lordcos here on the island and the toyota dealerships.

I could even email our closer US counterparts in Washington and Oregon and see if they would like to come awn over.

Hopefully more will come on board as I think this would be a fairly large undertaking.

Now where would it be held???

Rob

Let's do it. If we were to use a large parking lot of a school again, like we used to, the rental rates don't appear all that bad. I think it was North Surrey Secondary school that Cruiser Days used to be held in. Here's the Surrey School Board's facility rental rates (parking lot rental seems fairly inexpensive):

I second that motion, the club should host a Land Cruiser Show, the potential is there if done right to get lots of Cruisers. Piss me off though cause I won't be here!!! Damn job!!! :crybaby: :flipoff2:

That is a reasonable rate, I like the idea of keeping it in the same place as people who attended before would remember the spot.

Of course I hate the 50 dollar each way ferry fee, but thats still pretty cheap to go to such a gathering.

Who has access to a ramp, these guys are gonna want to flex thier stuff.

Ditto for me here in Victoria. I'll post at all the familiar locations, see if I can drum up some South Island interest!

Hi All:

Just lurking here - I've missed the old "JP Land Cruiser Days" and would be willing to spread the word in the Seattle area.

Good luck!

Alan

Sound like there won't be a problem getting the word out

Let's do it. How many vendors are willing to come and set up booths in this thing...show off their wares?

I was thinking that the actual rental of the lot would be relatively inexpensive. If a bunch of vendors were willing to get together and throw in a few bucks, it would easily take care of the rental cost.

Maybe everyone could just bring their own tables and chairs to setup, and maybe rent their own awning if they need one? Some people probably already have these things anyway, and it would really cut down on the whole organization thing of trying to figure out exactly who needs what.

Is there a possibility of prizes being donated for some sort of raffle like the ones that used to happen? I could approach JP if they want to donate prizes again to the event. Some of the vendors maybe have an idea about prizes?

I could approach some of the local offroad shops around here to see if they have/know of access to a ramp for us to do an RTI score. I don't know how much they are to rent, but I imagine not much. I know there was a 4WD show not too long ago held at the lot of the Collossus here in Langley, and they had a ramp.

Definitely have to be lots of Cruisers on display for people to come and crawl all over, just like the original Cruiser Days.

Some ideas anyway...so maybe if the vendors who are interested can post here their intentions, then we can get a better idea?

As far as time of the year goes...what's the best month? I was thinking August...weather's usually decent and the kids aren't back to school yet. Parents can bring them and the school parking lot won't be used much yet.

I wonder if OME in Seattle might want in on this?

I will contact Buddy and see if he can throw some free Swag our way if this becomes reality.

Good club meeting fodder for discussion.

Deny, Stone...you're it!

:-)

Great news, everyone! I've managed to track down a ramp for doing RTI scores for the Cruiser Days! One of the local 4WD clubs has one and has agreed to rent it out to us. So it will be really cool to be able to ramp the Cruisers that show up who are interested. Just thought I'd let you know.

Hey Greg,
As mentioned in my last post, I am not going to be in the Vancouver area all Summer. I got a job in Fort St John for at least 4 months. I can help a little, but I have a lot to do before May when I have to leave. I tag Jim, as he and Stone seem Gung ho!
Cheers,
Deny

I was going to do it this year but we'll see how this thread goes
last year I was too busy
the year before, Barb had a serious medical issue with treatments that lasted until December.

I'd planned on showing off Belton products, reproduction parts and any other vendor who supply me by letting them have their own both

I was NOT going to do a Ramp contest of any sort, too much legal crap to deal with
Just remember, who ever does decide to do this must make sure they cover their ass if someone gets hurt, run over, or a flexing truck falls on them

I'm not saying a group show is a bad thing but someone will eventually have to be liable.
The Coastal Cruisers are no longer up to date on the Non Profit Society stuff either.

I will speak with my neighbor the Lawyer, think there is simple way of signing a waver to negate responsibility.

The ramp would not be a contest but a way to see what your vehicle is capable of.

Vendors would be responsible for bringing in thier own tables chairs and tents if needed.

Little organization I think Stone could with a lot of help pull this off, if the ramp becomes to much of a liability then it will be dropped.

More ideas????

How about if the show is on one day and then say a fun run/fishing in chilliwack or something the next day. I would hate to pay the ferry fare and not even get to see some new scenery.
