I AM THE KING OF LAST MINUTE NOTICE TO YOU GUYS!!!!! I can't get any projects done on my house or my rig because of rain and it's just damn hot! So for the 3rd weekend in a row I might as well wheel.

Chimney Rock trail 7/16 Meet at the far east Tanque Verde Circle K at 8:30. 11271 east Tanque Verde

There is a good chance for rain up there tonite and/or tomorrow.

IF you lived in Phoenix, you'd be my bestest friend. :D

It won't be too hot in PHX at 6am. Thats about when you'll need to leave to be here in time. :D

What part(s) of the trail are you planning on running? IE: Are you running the 4438 end (east 1/2 of the trail), how about heading north where 4438 meets 4431 to Alamo Spring? Or are you just heading back to the *a-hem* playground?

I actually have a day off tomorrow, and assuming I get off my lazy butt and put my jeep back together, I might wander over there in the am.

Planning on heading in from the Bellota side and coming out the other end. I don't know the #'s right now, I'd have to go get my map out. The *ahem* playground is not on the road and I won't be there. Going with my buddy from Calypso in his Cherokee and his dad is test running a wrangler he may buy. Hope to see you there.

Glad to hear that. To many people ignore that little detail. It will probably end up with us losing another trail because of it.

IIRC 4431 is where you are starting, and you'll be making the right onto 4438, which leads you out to the east end of the trail.

If I manage to get my lazy butt out of bed in the morning.....

Another reason I won't be there. ;)

Had a nice day running Chimney Rock trail. We changed up and went in from the east end and came out at Bellota. Thats the first time I've done that whole trail. Nice trail, pretty easy wheeling but scenic. If there had been more water it would have been even better.
It was Jeep day in our group. Me in the 80, Brian(goodtimes) in the Rubicon, Jim in the Cherokee and Ron in the Wrangler he was test driving. My wife had the day off so Zoe and I got to wheel with momma. Thats a rare occurance and always nice to have her along. I really enjoyed the day.

sounds like you had a great day

I miss my cruiser

I like coming from the east also. That trails really fun at night in the rain:) That's when the freaks come out, ya know. Did the jeeps get some good scratches???:eek:Go to allamo springs if you need need a harder trail while out there. Short notice KING.

There's really no way to tell anymore.....

It was good to get out again SNK (short notice king). But next time we need to find some rocks to play on. You have sliders and a locker...you stand a chance of getting that thing through Upper Ajax.....:D

Heck, I took my 80 through all of Ajax, sans armor. The dents look kinda cool, anyway.

Trailbus, did the Alamo spring leg last fall, very overgrown then. So bad that it bent my wind deflector into a 90* and bent my antenna mount back at a 45*. Next time I go in there I'm takin the 18v sawzall. But other than overgrown that road was still pretty easy.
Before I tackle Ajax, I need to learn some more driving skills. Left foot braking techniques are something I need to practice now. I still drive my junk like its open-skinny pedal! I need to learn to crawl it a little better. Some day, I'll be a Jedi

The only way to practice is to put that pig on some rocks!!!!!

Upper Ajax isn't that difficult, but it will get tight in a couple spots. Lower Ajax is easy-cheezy. The last time I came out of upper ajax, I ran lower ajax (heading downhill) faster than the rest of the group ran down the friggin' road. So let's get to it! put that thing up against a house sized rock and see what it'll do!:D

LOL, Right On!

s***, last time I ran upper Ajax Brian pussed out and all 3 of the rigs that went broke. Ajax is crazy HARDCORE and Alvin has no business on that trail. Hell No 80 belongs there and anyone who says they've run that trail in an 80 is full of it.

Amen brother...I was there. I'd never take my 80 on it.

Give me time, I'll get my 62 through it.

uh....did the trail change in the last couple months....or did I miss the sarcasm?

Oh, and when did I puss out? The only time I can recall that I didn't go was on the 4th of July....but I wasn't about to go through there in front wheel drive.....
