I'm happy to say that progress for this years Rubithon is already well underway.

This years event will be held June 17th - 22nd. We have already reserved the Springs, the Slabs and Dirty Dozen and I have almost all the runs lined up with trail leaders.

The Rubithon.com website is all updated with this years info. The registration will be available from the website and should be in the next issue to Toyota Trails. I have also attached at the bottom of this post

Alvaro has committed to hosting the 2nd annual "Rock Chef". For anyone that missed it last year, here's a hint..... stand behind the judges and beg!

For all the FJC guys, just received commitment from Mark Hawley and am happy to let you know, that LT from Metal Tech will again be leading the FJC run on Thursday with a camp at Buck Island.:steer:

Back by popular demand, the Toys on the Rocks will be hosting a benefit wine tasting to support the Rubicon Trail Foundation.

We are looking for 4-5 vehicles that would be interested in taking on helping with the exit up Cadillac Hill. Please email me for details.

As I get more details nailed down, I will post up here.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this summer, now get out there and start working on your Junk... You have 23 weeks!

I have attached the forms for non-committee members to register.

The form 26th Registration Form PDF submittal will allow you to fill it out directly on the form and hit submit from the bottom right hand corner. You can print a copy for yourself BEFORE you hit submit. That method is prefered!:bounce::bounce2:

If you would rather print it out and mail it in, use form 26th Registraton Form PDF. You can still directly fill it out and then hit print if you like. Then fax or mail it in.

Being an Adobe file, not all browsers open it. I know Google Chrome and IE work just fine. If you have problems opening it, you can email me and I will email you the correct form straight to your email address.

Mac's seem to have the biggest issue with Adobe products, but I've been told if you click on it and download vs. filling it out directly on line, it will work.

All fields outlined in red must be filled out before you can submit it.

Feel free to contact me with any problems:grinpimp:

well my goal is to make it to the Rubithon this year, we will see how well I can prepare for it. just need to chop my rockers, attach my sliders and cut my rear quarters.

any advice for someone new to the rubicon? mainly things like will a standard 22 gal FJ60 gas tank be sufficient to make it through? what kind of spare parts to bring outside of knuckle rebuild parts, birfields, steering components, and long side axles?

I would suggest talking to Andy Pollock. He is the trail leader for the wagon run and I have little to no experience with the FJ60. He is Cruiserdrew here on Mud.

Biggest suggestion from me is to do all your maintenance and fix ALL the "little things" you know about well in advance at home. Torque EVERYTHING! Listen to your trail crew and be patient!

Look forward to seeing you on the trail, you won't be disappointed!

cool cool, ill start talking to him plus I am stopping by Georgs for a few days this week and ill be talking to him and what I need to do.

main obstacle is money for the little things like U bolt flip kit since I am sprung under and a new C02 regulator for my tank.

Yup. Bring an extra five gallons, but I only used 17 gallons and had some to spare.

Good idea.

a new C02 regulator for my tank.

I run mine with just a hose. Works great and it's extra thrilling thinking the hose could blow up in your face all the time.

Let's make an official plan for a backwards run for Sunday.

Interesting thought, it's been a long time since I've run it backwards from Rubicon Springs. :hhmm:

I'm not gonna make the whole event, but would definitely be interested in making this. I could come in from tahoe around noon...

The regs state that you need 33s but pretty sure you could drag the wagon through on 31s. Beefy sliders, rear bumper and locker are a must though. I recommend sliders with decent outriggers if you don't want body damage. I brought a 5 gal Jerry can but finished with 1/4 tank left, no breakage, I didn't even get strapped or have to pull cable. That said, have solid extraction points on all four corners.

I did it last year in my 62 with 33s, I recommend going with the wagon group so you can follow their lines. If you're even thinking about it, you have to go, one of my favorite experiences ever.

Go slow, avoid wheelspin and listen to your spotter.

33's are required, and for a good reason. A wagon running 31's will be a burden to everyone in that group. 35's would be much better.

Now, I've seen very skilled drivers make it through on 31's, we even had a Canadian 45 make it on 29's, but those are not the norm.

Ya I dont intend to run it though on 31s. I am working on getting some 33s since I dont have the desire to run 35s nor the money to adjust bump stops etc. My 31s are worn and around 30" so those are out forna trip like this.

Right now im planning for the rubicon and if im not ready, I wont go. Simple as that.

I'm a rookie and made it through pretty easily in a wagon on 33s, no winching or strapping either, the auto helped me out a bit. That said 37s would have made it a cake walk, which is what I run now.

I did see a poo brown wagon at the Springs that looked like it had 31-32s on it though, also saw 45Kevin's pickup which was awesome.

I wouldn't try 31s unless I was in a shorter wheelbase rig like a 40 or a Samurai. All and all though, I am not the voice of experience only having one run on my belt.

Are lockers a must?? I have open diffs and I want to be a part of such a great event! Hoping that i could get at least rear lockers by that time if it's a must. need to save some $$$ for that...

I don't feel like lockers are required for the Rubicon. It might make things easier, but my FJ40 is open and it goes through just fine. My wife's pickup is on 33's and open and goes through just find (we did drag the arse end a lot though). The group that went this year we were all open both diffs and had VERY little issues the whole time. A few retries after a bad line, but mostly drove through.

That's good to know... :D

Although I agree, maybe having lockers will make it a 'lil easier:clap:

Hay Ross,
Do you have all your mechanical issues secured this year? Are you bringing the FJC or the 40?
My committee is looking forward to another 'no workie' Rubithon.
