Thanks for coming up it was great meeting you guys. Hopefully the trip back south was a little better.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project. Let me know if I can help out in any way.

Thanks for the body got it off the trailer and stripped down pretty good. Still have a couple of things to come off, still very little rust.

Getting there...

We've had a few days to work on the new body and it's going pretty quick! We've got all the trim and interior pieces our of the car, front and rear windows out. The windshield cracked, but we've got the old body to grab another one from. There was something I've never seen before but my husband seemed to know what was going on, the welds in the liftgate had rusted out, causing the window to move around within the rubber, and actually crack the metal below it. I always thought glass would crack first, but apparently not! He got it all welded up and we washed out all the years of dirt in there, so a little more sanding and we're ready to paint!! Yeah!

Keep up the hard work!

So we finished painting and selling my 04 dodge Dodge pickup a couple weeks ago, so Im all in to this project as my DD.

got all 4 doors and pass fender painted and a first coat of clear. The hood has color but we ran into some blushing issues when we cleared it last night. The diver side fender is now primed and we're working leveling it etc....

Also Adam & Tor from Tor Fab is gathering all the parts for our H55f trans swap which includes a brand new H55f & x-fer case rebuild and Which we'll be posting pictures of that once we get it all together along with the rewire / body swap. Now if I could just get the rest of this paint done before the weather turns Ill be happy.

Looks good, keep it up!

She is missing her G badges kind of make me suspicious for a Canadian original.
Is there badge holes on the fender were the horizontal crease and the wheel well crease meet at the back end of fender kind of in line with the marker light.
All Cdn BJ60s sport these badges not taking away from your purchase any diesel is better than a gasser in my books whether original or swapped in.

My 81 BJ60 is Canadian and did not come with the G badges either so I would not worry about that.
Looking good so far! See my swap link if you have any questions.

Yeh but the G badge separates you from the rest of the pack and those who see the G will be jealous especially those in the USA.

We're getting there slowly but surely! The doors are finished except for the last coat of clear, the hood has all sorts of problems though because we tried to paint when it was cold and damp (Note to self, bad combination for car paint!) So we'll have to repaint that and part of the fender that got messed up. The body is almost ready for prime, we took our time last night and covered the whole floor with POR 15 to make sure it doesn't rust. Might be overkill, but I REALLY don't want to paint this thing again!!

The fenders and body we're painting using are from the dudes at tor-fab and are from a fj60. The original BJ body is to rusted. I like the vents adds to the classic styling of this rig. When were all done I want to take both cruisers out for a photo shoot call it 'beauty (the 60) and the beast (the 40)'.

It is just a model classification just like GX , LX , VX and some others that skip my mind but the G is a diesel designation for the 3B model 60 series its a basic package no options I cant remember if the HJ60 has a G but I am thinking not since it had some of the bells and whistles options .

G has nothing to do with diesel, it is simply a slightly (and I mean very slightly :)) more luxurious interior, with carpet and maybe a few other tiny things.

Maybe all BJ60s are Gs, but not all Gs are BJ60s. My HJ60 has a G badge, and I'm sure there are FJs with Gs as well.

You will never find mounting holes for the badges in the fenders because they are glued on in the factory.;) Same for GX badges on the fenders.

G on the front fender is diesel specific and GX on the rear is FJ and HJ
Anyways this is someone elses post so we will leave it at that.

Finally got it painted!

We took the weekend to finish up painting, all except one fender that had runs and strange color variations. There's always got to be one pain in the ass part that you have to spend twice as much time on! Anyways, here's a few photos, sorry there's so many, I can't help document!!

P.S. Good to know about the badges, we're kind of changing around the interior anyways so maybe we can make our own badge? :)
