went from an 80 to a 100... Would happily own either one. The 100 is superior in pretty much every driving dynamic except serious off road work. If you are going to tow anything pick the Hundy no question. If you are going to wheel hard enough to do body damage pick a locked 80.
Mudders,
I have a 96 FZJ80
Was trailering my boat from Portland to lake Shasta and the towing performance started to go from slow to slower on the hills... Didn't think much of it at the time it is HOT, smokey and I was failry well loaded. (Not me the Cruiser...)
Anyway Down around...
The install job apears to be fine...
I have watched the OEM glass take rocks that would have destroyed other winshields. Looking to maintain that integrity if I can. Will probably just leave well enough alone and see how it holds up. If it turns out to be inferior I can always switch back.
I recently had a winshield replaced under insurance and specified an OEM Toyota windshield. The shop did not follow my wishes and installed what they claim is a high quality substitiute.
My question, is OEM replacement glass through the dealer actually a Japanese made true OEM glass as...
I bought photomans tank and have had it installed for 3 years now.
It does "burp" on occasion but other than that it performs just fine.
This is the best mod I have made to my 80...
Looks like this will be covered under a comprehensive claim... That means I won't need to do the work to find the parts ore change it out...
Nemo, special thanks for your offer.
Cheers
Chris
Was just driving down the freeway and had something pepper my 80. Put a good size bulseye in the winshield and managed to bounce off my rocket box and shatter the sunroof.
I am assuming all years are the same... Anybody have or know of a sunroof panel ?
Been wanting to put a bypass oil filter on my 80 for a while now. Is there a prefered supply and return spot ? Instructions say to "T" off the oil sender and return to the valve cover... Is there a cleaner way to do this in the 1FZE ?
Fantastic repower...

And I bought it...
Certainly won't argue with Bills assesment of the tanks shortcomings but in all honesty I think its the best mod I have made to my 80.
Its all a matter of how you use the truck. My wife, Golden Retriever and I go on alot of long trips a year. Many of those are into the...
Have watched that video many times and is WAS hooked to the factory tow loop. It did not just tear off the bumper cover but the entire rear unibody bulk head.
This is the clincher in Slee's deal, I DO think the bushing tool is worth $60... at least in frustration and time to install. (try and go get one machined for $60) That extra level of well thought out service is worth more than a few $$$
Let me be the first to say.. " I hate You " have never met you and you are more than likely a great guy but I hate you anyway... 1HZ and a 5 speed...hate you yes I do !! No sunroof, quad headlights... probably has one of those damm sub tanks... hate , Hate, HATE !!!
Don't even think...
I put them on...
They went on hard, the existing belts were routed outside the idler, idler running on the V. The shredded set were put on "correctly". That was pre FSM so tonight I will make sure of the routing.
Good news is the dealer will warranty the belts, bads news is they are a...
I did mine without ratchet straps at all... truck was level.
Mount the arm to the axle first and do the rear bolt last. gives you a nice lever arm to muscle the axle into place with.
