    Noise diagnosis on 80?

Hey Folks - just got a new (to me) ‘96 FZJ. Don’t know much about the service history, but noticing two noises: (1) when I make hard right turns (at speed) there’s a vibrating buzz noise that comes out of the left side. Almost sounds like when you’re on the highway and drive over the rumble...

    Fixing Cracked Hood Wind Deflector?

Quick Update for posterity: I filled the gap with JB Weld for Plastic (Black). - Held it together with tape, and cure overnight. - Today sanded it town, progressively from 120 grit to 3000 grit, with a lil' water. Pretty happy. Here's the results: Thanks, - Spence

    Help Diagnosing a high-pitch noise? (LX450)

Quick update: Brought the LX back to Slee... and..... dun dun dun dun... It's exhaust whistle. Thanks guys - y'all were right, but still glad I double checked in person. Best, - Spence

    Fixing Cracked Hood Wind Deflector?

Thanks guys - appreciate the ideas. Believe it's Acrylic plastic. ABS and Nylon are opaque and polycarb is indestructible

    Fixing Cracked Hood Wind Deflector?

Lmao thanks Pred - don't you like the look? FYI - I'm thinking a couple dabs of this epoxy might do the trick: Amazon Link -- it's black, but maybe clear would be better 🤷‍♂️ Thanks, - Spence

    Fixing Cracked Hood Wind Deflector?

Hey Guys - I've got a wind / bug deflector mounted on the hood of my LX450. It's got a crack in the plastic (luckily only goes 3/4 of the way down). [photos below] Before I start glopping on JB Weld, wanted to check: Does anyone have a quick / preferred fix method for plastics like this in a...

    Help Diagnosing a high-pitch noise? (LX450)

Thanks for the thoughts guys! Appreciate the advice and wisdom. Small New Piece of Info: Went into the garage, revved the engine while in park, and did not hear the sound. So the noise is only when under load (like accelerating on the highway) with RPM over 3. Does that give you guys any...

Amazing find @LINUS - wow that's really the twin. (although 1/2 the miles)

    Help Diagnosing a high-pitch noise? (LX450)

Thanks @LongDuck - that's helpful (and an optimistic perspective re: "part of the fun of driving an 80")! Do you know if there are any videos of the Exhaust Whistle? I'd love to take a listen to see if it's the same kind of thing. My only concern is for years I drove my dad's old '94 FZJ80...

    Help Diagnosing a high-pitch noise? (LX450)

Hey Guys - Just got this awesome LX450 back from Slee (pic below for fun). But would be exceptionally grateful for your help diagnosing a noise. Driving it home the first time, everything's great, except there's a very, very faint high-pitched noise: - comes on at higher RPM (above >3) - can...

OME Nitrocharger Sport vs. BP-51 (on an 80)

Thanks guys -- wanted to express my gratitude for all the solid advice. The truck already has a standard 2.5" OME on there, so for the $3k I'm going to leave it for the time being. Definitely eyeing the BP-51 though for a future round of upgrades. Best, - Spencer

Rear main seal leak: how "big a deal" is that?

Thanks guys -- this advice has been super helpful. Hope it proves useful to others too in the future. TLDR - for the time-being I told them to let it be and skip the main seal repair. Slee's taking another look when doing other baselining work, and basically said skip the fix unless you...

Rear main seal leak: how "big a deal" is that?

Hi Friends - Follow-on question: I've got a nice low-mileage LX450 at Slee right now getting some work baselining done. They say the rear main seal has a leak (supposedly common). It's a $1k repair -- $850 of labor removing the transmission to install a $60 gasket. Is this something worth...

OME Nitrocharger Sport vs. BP-51 (on an 80)

thanks for the thoughts guys. Don't really care so much about the BP-51's adjustability. Can anyone who's owned both speak to the overall feel differences? Is the BP-51 that much better?

OME Nitrocharger Sport vs. BP-51 (on an 80)

Hi Friends - I've got a nice low-mileage LX450 at Slee right now getting some work done. It's got an OME 2.5" lift (couple yrs old). Talking with the guys there, considering upgrading to the BP-51. Supposedly it's "incredible" but worried about it being (a) too soft and loosing that "truck"...

Impact of OME 2.5" on ride quality *on roads*?

This is extremely helpful. Thanks guys for offering such excellent advice! Another random question I've been thinking about -- how much does armor impact ride quality? Adding Front & Rear bumpers + rock slides = 800 lbs extra weight. How noticeably is that in driving agility / steering. I...

    Second-opinion on FJ80 pre-purchase inspection?

Hi Guys - was looking at a '94 FJ80 coming out of Michigan. Just got back pics from the mechanic doing the inspection. Pros: exterior and interior looks clean as hell. Cons: looks like some (1) rust on the under carriage, and.... there's some (2) white slime in the engine oil cap. I'd truly...

Impact of OME 2.5" on ride quality *on roads*?

Thanks guys - this is super helpful context. Can't express my gratitude! @Brentbba - not planning on adding any additional armor / bumpers at this point -- so was thinking about keeping it medium OME 2.5". Next mod I'd consider is rock sliders (~200 lbs), but not 100% sure yet. How much weight...
