There are a couple of posts and build threads, but I think I am going to start with a generic winch mounting plate if I do not have a suitable size piece of scrap steel. Then use standoffs/spacers on top of that plate to raise the winch up a little to get the rope/cable inline with the vertical...
Contemplating... 1. cutting the tubes off this, 2. going back to my stock bumper and doing the hidden winch mod, or 3. Nothing. $300 for the bumper as is if anyone is interested. Located in Norfolk, VA.
Update... Bumper for sale in the Classifieds section.
While I'm monkeying around the dash... There is a 'beeper/chime', that I hear only ocassionally or intermittently when I open the door... I suspect something loose or not right with it... there's like 4 rapid beeps, a pause, 4 rapid beeps, a pause... beep beep beep beep....beep beep beep...
So, I looked into the Snap-On, MAC, Capri, and HF versions of extractor wrenches. That day (Monday June 19) ended up ordering 1 MAC 10mm and a set of the Capri's. The Capri's were an Amazon 1 day delivery, the Mac arrived today (Sat June 24) . Tried both wrenches... MAC, no dice. The...
Decided to troubleshoot my inoperable rear locker. Read all the threads on troubleshooting, then climbed under with tools and testing things. Motor is bound, and the 2 top bolt heads are stripped holding it to the 3rd... just cammed out. Gave up for now, and letting them soak in penetrating...
So, found out the PO of my truck had passed back in 2020. His name was Jon aka ThirstySteer over on the FJBruisers site. He was really active in the FJ community. Here's a fun story when I met him to buy the truck back in 2015.
I had found the FJ Bruiser forums and was going through their...
Checked my nuts, new O2 sensors, installed 2 new side mirrors, satin blacked the lower 1/5th of the cab... the rust brown was unsightly. Weekend trip coming up and just getting the ol' girl in shape. The truck is coming along too.
Helpful hint on the mirrors - Before unbolting the mirror...
On my truck I pulled those rocker plugs and water came out.... would that be due to the sunroof drains? I sheep dipped TF out of the rockers after discovering that.
While it is amusing to see... and my inner 12 year old applauds them... It was rather reckless given that it was about 15 feet from a stout oak tree, 15 feet from the ass end of my CLS550 and jeopardized the precious 94... A bad swerve could have been pretty interesting.
Nevermind the...
Cowl wasn't bad - the basic 'pin oak' leaves jamming up the far corners. Washed and cleaned all over in there. Was thinking something like the breathable landscape fabric might be a good idea under the vents.. This is a good 1 banana quarterly maintenance.
My security caught some Ironman...
Good luck on all of your weekend projects. Investigating the under cowl situation today.

Bought some sheep goop.
Contemplating here... make a wooden frame U structure/pen slightly larger than the truck... (or dig a hole in the ground...) with a hump up in the middle lined with some heavy duty rubber roofing, roll truck in over hump remove wheels, lower gently onto some blocks...
Exhaust install finished tonight.
I used Magnaflow 24455, non-CA compliant direct fit cats. OEM downpipes, OEM Y pipe, OEM rear section/resonator, brackets, insulators. Didn't want to spring for the OEM cats (available) and couldn't find an OEM muffler ('center section' NLA?) and ended up...
