I have plenty of stock bolts from other motors. It just stresses me out that this one broke in the motor I’m rebuilding. Seems very odd to me, has me nervous about the others. I’ll probably use the arp for piece of mind
Go to amazon and get 25' 2 guage welding wire, lugs, lug crimper and heat shrink. makes great cables. I used black cable with red and black heat shrink. and military spec battery terminal and cover
thanks, i've read that before. I couldn't find any other posts on others using the supra bolts maybe i'm just stupid when it comes to searching. has anyone had any problems with them. doesn't seem like much work to get them to work. and $80 for a set of ARP is way better than $240 stock from SOR
When my machinist was checking the bearing clearances one of the rod bolts broke. He is familiar with these engines and was using the correct torque. when i tore the motor down i didn't see any evidence of anyone being in the bottom end before who could have over torqued them. This makes me...
Rebuilding and tapping the box is not hard. You can build your own hydro assist for fairly cheep. I got my ram and hydro lines from surplus center, works great
I have an 84 and an h55 that’s been sitting under the bench in a box for about 10 yrs. there are a couple differences between early/late fj60 if I can remember correctly.
The h55 is longer but the later had a spacer between the tranny/transfer to make up the difference. That’s why it’s a direct...
do The shims compensate for casting variations in the knuckle or ball or both? I was given a bare mini housing with no knuckles. I have several 60 series axles with knuckles. When I have rebuilt knuckles I have always used the original shims in the same location and never had an issue with...
Thats what im thinking, ive never seen a bad carrier bearing in the few i've rebuilt. The crawler will put more stress on them but they should get very little heat. getting opinions from other smart people.
I'm swapping two 8" elockers into my crawler. I have rebuilt several toyota diffs in the past on street trucks and always replaced all the bearings even though the carrier bearings looked good. Since the crawler sees very few miles and has dual cases so its slow, i was thinking if the carrier...
If you want to spend the coin for high quality stuff the quages above would be good if you can read Celcius and I dig the retro look. I've never had any problems with the chinese crap. If you get an oil pressure guage don't use the plastic line, get a braided line. Make sure whatever guages...
Which ever one you like. They all made by the same little Chinese dude. You can get the Bosch sets cheap at autozone/advance. Good time to do oil pressure too.
