I just got this exhaust kit from MAF. Headers and Full exhaust. Did you document any of the install? Any hiccups of note I should look out for? Seems to be a well rounded kit, but I can't find anyone who has installed this kit and taken photos. However, nothing was labeled, no parts list, etc.
FWIW - I had a Weber 38/38 and it always ran rich. Because there is not an idle/fuel cut solenoid as Spike Strip has said above, it will continue to pump gas into the engine on shut off, and if you have red hot carbon build up in the engine, its going to keep dieseling.
I solved the issue...
I couldn't comment on that. My truck had a Weber before the Sniper and desmog, and it always an rich.
I think recurving the dizzy is strongly suggested, or get a DUI dizzy.
@4runner2FJ60 - There are two block off plates, one for the exhaust manifold on the underside (where you welded) - and...
What mil Noico did you lay down? I am piling up parts to do the carpet swap and going to sound deaden when I rip all the old stuff out. Did you put one layer or two? Insulated?
I haven't tried yet. Asked around in another Sniper thread, and got some different answers. Looking to wire it up like this, based off the feedback that I got. If I have issues, may throw throw the relay into the mix. This was the most straight forward, and simple.
Now I'm totally confused because I am not using the coil. I am only using the plug that the coil was hooked up to initially - and was going to just tie in the pink Sniper wire, and the BATT wire on DUI distributor, into a relay, and hook it up to that.
Here's what my intuition said - where...
If I am not using the coil, will this matter? I've removed the coil and igniter combo. I don't have working AC currently, but don't want to rule that out in the future by wiring incorrectly.
Based off of this diagram - I am assuming I would wire the coil 12v into the 86 Positive switch? The rest of relay would be as is, with device (dizzy BATT) going to 87?
I am such an amateur when it comes to electrical.
When you hooked up the HEI distributor - the BATT wire goes straight to the battery, direct connection, correct? Is that an inline fuse on the BATT wire as well? Do you recommend I use one of those? This is my first time working with a DUI distributor, so want to make sure I get it right...
Great write up! I am in the middle of a Sniper conversion. Have a question about pre-filter before the fuel pump - I mounted mine a little further back, closer to the tank. Does it need to be closer to the fuel pump, like you have mounted yours? Or does it even make a difference? Just curious.
