    A different starter issue?

Sounds like how the pump fails in the Ls400, it acts up randomly. I believe there is a port under the rear seat to reach the pump. It's an easy R/r.

Lift Gate Rust (what can be done?)

U can get a new gate from Sewell, at least it's on their parts list. I seem to remember calling them when I got my 2000, guy said they had few of each in the warehouse.

    Another key replacement thread

It's also not "rocket science" to want to save money. These laser cut keys can be expensive to have cut. The vendor I used provided the key, cut it and programmed it for a very reasonable cost. Plus I didn't have to drive it somewhere to have it cut---just drop it in the mailbox.

    Oil change question

WOW! The owner's manuel is very clear on exactly how much oil to add to both the transmission and engine after a drain. There is really no reason to guess. If you are having problems with the dipstick let the truck sit for 10 min with the engine off then pull out the dipstick and see what it...

    Another key replacement thread

I used an ebay vendor for a new key. I sent him my working key, he cut and programmed a key and returned them both back to me. It took less than a week and was $35 I believe. The locksmith I went to said it "couldn't be done" and that I needed to go to the dealer. Also, I always get the keys...

When your crank pulley bolt is laughing at you...

There is a youtube video out there where the guy totally disregards the cam and crank marks and simply makes his own marks on the pully, engine and belt a couple of times at each pully. He then places the new belt on top of the old uninstalled one and marks the new belt at the same spot then...

    Fan clutch replacement

I did mine last year and it was pretty straight forward. I did the thermostat at the same time so the lower hose was out of the way. I pulled the fan and fan clutch out as one unit then changed the clutch on my bench. I was able to get it out without removing the radiator shroud.

    Strange Temp Gauge Behavior

I had these exact symptoms on my 00 LX 130K miles last year. I really started to notice it when I was 1500 miles from home so I watched the gauge like a hawk the whole way home. I changed the thermostat and fan clutch at the same time and that fixed it. I believe it was the thermostat but...

ticking/exhaust crack: how long before implosion?

I would like to see one of the defective manifolds that has been removed and the exact failure point shown so I can see where it leaks from.

    Fuel Filler Blockage

I have seen this exact problem on several Ford Crown Vics. On that model there is a flap at the bottom of the filler tube that keeps fuel from gushing out during a roll-over collision. When that flap fails you get your exact problem. I'd assume the LC has the same setup.

    Pull the engine?

That's the exact technique Ford used when they had to do major work on the 6liter diesel superduty.

    Pull the engine?

It was posted at the end of another thread but didn't get any response---and I felt like I was jacking the thread. My point is I can't see spending 8-10 hrs (as reported here) doing both manifolds while the engine is in.

    Pull the engine?

I have a 2000 LX with 130k and the notorious manifold tick from both sides for about 3-4 min before it warms up. Am I off base to think it would be easier at 190k when I need a new timing belt to just yank the engine? Once it's out I could do the manifolds (ten hour job in 1 hour id think)...

Programming a Transponder Key for 99 TLC

I have recently bought keys for two of my Lexus vehicles. If you google it, you can get the program procedure for every year, model of lexus. Two weeks ago I used a guy on ebay out of Cali. I got a new transponder key (no buttons) for $40. You send him a working key and he supplies the key...

    New to IH8MUD

What a great site this is for the 470! I am a member on clublexus for my other cars but there isn't a very active LX470 section. I bought a 2000 470 with 123k last fall after doing some research here. It was at a Mercedes dealer, had recent timing belt service, new front brakes and rotors, new...
