The TVSS box in my '94 has decided to auto-arm after 20 seconds and i cannot find any discussion of how that gets disabled. The manuals i have found say "contact the dealer" to enable it.
Also, the one fob i can find anymore is dying. I have electronic repair experience - it's not the button...
My cruiser has been on goodyear silent armor 265/75r16 for 10 years. So those tires are 10 years old and i need to replace them this year.
The silent armor tire appears to have been discontinued.
I don't really wheel this thing off-road. It's not my sport. I haven't taken it to Moab. It's...
My trusty friend Tetsuo failed his pre-trip check last night with the performance pictured below—coolant bubbles at the top tank. I'd only driven it around the corner to top up the gas and let it idle in the driveway for 15 minutes or so while I used the superflow to air up the tires, and then...
New thing my cruiser has been doing this summer. If I've had the AC on and have been stuck in slow traffic, the engine wants to idle really high, like 2krpm.
The temp gauge on the cluster is of course a damn liar and i haven't fixed it to tell the truth yet, but it is apparent that it does...
Was this supposed to seat flush? I don't remember if the hose i took off did. These are not OEM hoses - these are BrakeBest brand from O'Reilly.
I've been replacing the front left caliper and hoses (and the starter, and some other stuff) gradually with whatever daylight i can steal, as i...
Sometimes when I'm accelerating the transmission doesn't upshift. I actually hit the limiters going up a hill from a stop light the other day.
If i let off the pedal, then it will shift. Manually shifting with the lever doesn't seem to make a difference, which makes me think it might be the...
I have another suggestion for people who find themselves with a leaky air hose / duct / whateveryouwnanacallit.
The OE duct is still available (pretty sure) but may be cost prohibitive. Heavy application of tape works for a while, but it's a half solution. What I'm offering is a cheap, when you...
Yeah, I almost certainly have water somewhere there shouldn't be water. The question is, where?
Engine was just too greasy so i took it to the nearest carwash. Had the typical mess all around the power steering reservoir, etc. Got stuff pretty clean. Yes, I used the high pressure.
Idled a...
Yesterday when i drove back to work from lunch - luckily only a couple miles - I got out and noticed a trail of fluid behind my rig, stuck my head under the front and saw this:
It looked to me like coolant was dripping all down the driver side of the engine. I presumed the PHH.
Had it...
I recently associated with a local maker space that has an OMAX water jet cutting system as well as other fabrication tools like a box & pan brake.
Provolt, down in Provo UT, if you are in the area. Cutting time is $55/hr in actual seconds of cutting time recorded on the machine, for amateur...
A few days ago i noticed as i walked back to my cruiser from a grocery store at night, the brake lights were lit up.
I have the original alarm still, if that matters. Unlocking and locking with the remote made no difference. Fiddling with the headlight switch made no difference.
It has done it...
Today i was helping a friend shuffle boats and cars in his side yard, having provided my trusty Tetsuo for grunt duty.
Since it's his house, his stuff, etc, he was driving and i was guiding. Gave me a unique opportunity to be outside of my rig when it is operating.
There's a distinct and not...
I opportunistically pulled some parts off of a green '94 at a junk yard.
No i don't know what is still on it - it's not convenient for me to get back to it. So I'm not taking requests.
I have an air intake hose in excellent condition. I have cleaned it in an effort to search for any cracks...
It seems likely that i will be replacing the head gasket in my '94 soonish. If i have the head off, prudence demands that i hand it to someone who knows their way around a head for some TLC before reinstallation.
A good, valued friend of mine has been building engines at a very reputable...
so now that I've completed my heated mirror install, I notice that my passenger side mirror is slightly convex and my driver side mirror is flat.
Also that the passenger side has that "objects in mirror" text and the driver side doesn't.
Normal?
I have aspherical blind spot mirrors on my...
Still battling bad brakes, today i installed a Centric remanufactured booster to go with my brand new Aisin master cylinder.
fwiw, my MC came in an Advics box, has an Advics rubber stamp on the body, and Aisin casting marks. Bought it from an ebay vendor. Everything looks great and seems to...
Ever since i put new pads on the front of my '94 the brakes haven't been right.
At first it was the "you simply haven't bled all the air out of the system" sponginess, but that cleared up after the third time i bled everything, and i am now getting clear and clean new DOT-3 from all four...
So far I like them. Most of my friends don't have a lot of free time to help me bleed brakes, and the mity vac was only drawing about a teaspoon at a go, so these turned into a must-have for me. provided that they work properly.
It sorta seems that they do?
I got two pair of 639560 via amazon...
I just installed OME springs and no longer have a use for the original springs.
I understand that fzj80 springs can be used to give substantial lift to some series of 4Runner but having never owned a 4runner, I don't actually know much about that.
Pick up only in Utah. Or potentially I can...
At the tear-a-part today i went ahead and pulled a York 210 compressor out of a 1970 Mercedes 280 S.
Oh, and if you were the guys i met on the way in who were wheeling out the 1fz-fe, the tool fairy told me to take your mallet, but i deemed it too greazy. It's on top of the fuse/relay box...
