I've been thinking of seeing my 89 daily driver. it has 230k with a rebuilt transmission. runs great. The biggest issue is rust. dime size bubbles and one quarter size on hood. I tried fixing above the drivers door 4 years ago, but really never finished and it came back. gutters need...
I was jumping a very dead truck and now my 89 won’t start. I have power to hazards and horn and headlights but no radio or wipers or shifter red light or other engine dash lights
I tried jumping mine and nothing.
I’m stuck on the road and don’t have my manual or a lot of tools.
Not sure if...
first thanks for the help with my headlight switch. I ordered the part.
My 86 also has a problem in the column. I'll be driving along and it will turn off. Everything goes off. I'll muscle it over to the shoulder. I've set there and called a tow, but found that after moving the steering...
the high beams on my 89 62 both go off together. then I switch back to regular headlights and they work. If I then switch back to high beams, they usually come back on, but sometimes they don't.
any ideas where I should start?
I have a F62 wo the rear heater. I have a rubber cap that seals off the metal tubing that feeds the rear seat heater if you had one. The rubber cap only seems to last about 2 years before it disintegrates and leaks. Is there a solution or do I need to just replace it every couple years?
My horn started working intermittently a couple years ago. I replaced the contact and spring but not the copper ring. The ring seems to be fixed in there and unremovable. It worked better for while and then go out again. it depends on the steering wheel position. It doesn't work in the...
My 89 has two and I'm guessing that is stock. I need to replace the exhaust and was wondering if I can replace them with one. Maybe put the Y prior to the cat and then straight back to the muffler.
Smog isn't a problem and if I could I'd just eliminate them, but when I went to the shop he was...
The last two front brake replacements on my 62 have lasted less than 20K miles. I thought the first set was just bad pads. But now the second set did the same things. Anyone seen this before? My daughter drives it and before I get critical of her driving, I'd like to see if there might be a...
My dipstick only has two notches with "hot" in between them. Should there be a cold level?
The end looks like it might have broken off at a notch. Should I have two notches with "cold" in between them?
I'm worrying that I'm overfilling it. I keep it at the lower notch below the hot.
Just replaced rear drums and springs, etc. Now my e brake barely holds even tho its all the way adjusted at the handle. I removed the drums again and noticed there's about 1/2 inch slack one each wheel before the cables inside the drums start to move the e brake lever. Is this normal? I seem...
I read a thread on grounding junctions in the FAQ. Anyone know where the grounding junction would be for my 62 AT temp oil and battery lights. I'm having problems with both and am hoping they share a common grounding junction.
My alternator went out and I had to drive until the battery was dead. I replaced the alternator with one from Napa and it ran fine for a day, altho I noticed the gauge was running a little higher then before, maybe about 13.25.
The next day the battery light and the high transmission temp...
I tightened this belt once before, but I had some help. It can't be that hard.
There's an idler gear with a 3 or 4 inch bolt thru it. The end of the bolt has a grooved nut that fits thru a bracket with an acorn nut on the other side. To tighten the belt I have to turn the bolt CCW which...
My front drive shift slipped apart when I was removing it from the vehicle. Do I need to balance it?
And even worse I damaged the rear drive shaft while removing a u joint and am trying to find a replacement. Do I need to balance that?
The worse part is I spent at least an hour cleaning the...
I installing the pressure plate in my 86 60 and the manual calls for 14lbs of torque for the pressure plate to flywheel bolts. Is this correct. seems awfully low.
I'm replacing the clutch on my 86 60 and thought I'd replace the bearing but it looks like it is pressed onto a hub.
If I order the bearing, does it come pressed on to a new hub or do I press it on myself?
I marked the old pressure plate, but I am installing a new one. Is there any concern...
