Help in Atlanta on front knuckle rebuild

LDowney and Dan, I've read about the knuckle rebuild and it seems a little more advanced for me to tackle, with my limited experience wrenching. I have a full set of metric sockets nd other tools that I've used on the FJ40 in the last 3 years, doing small tasks like changing fluids, plugs...

Help in Atlanta on front knuckle rebuild

I have a 1977 FJ40 that needs the front knuckles rebuilt. I am looking for someone who has done several of these rebuilds in the past, who would like to work on my rig. Of course, I will pay for you to work on my truck. I would like to help, so that I can learn from the experience. I am...

Rust stain removal from OEM floormats

The best product I used for the rust stain removal was a cleaner named "Awesome", that removes all types of stains from washable items. It was, well, awesome.

Help! with alarm and remote key fob

OK, I don't know what happened and don't know how to fix it ... I got out of my 97 FJZ80 this a.m., hit the top "lock" button on my Toyota key fob, and my alarm started going off (says Toyota Security with a red blinking button on the dash). Perhaps I hit the wrong button on the fob, I dunno...

    OK, so what happened?

So if my rpm's were too high, what would be causing that?

    OK, so what happened?

The noise was more of a roadnoise roar, but louder than usual. The RPMs were just above 3k at 70. Thanks for the info on the temp guage, will keep that in mind.

    OK, so what happened?

Everything was fine on the commute in this a.m. The only change I made recently was replacing the two small vacuum hoses on the top of the valve cover yesterday. I tried to replace the PCV valve, but couldnt get it out, so I just left it and replaced the hoses as preventative maintenance.

    OK, so what happened?

I've had the truck for 3 months. It has 79k miles on it. Ambient temperature was in the mid 80s.

    OK, so what happened?

Temperature guage was fine, all the guages looked normal when the truck was making the louder noise.

    OK, so what happened?

    Oh, it's a 97 FJZ80.

    OK, so what happened?

I was just driving home, 30 miles into the commute going 65-70 mph, and the engine was making a louder noise than usual. When I took my foot off the gas pedal, it made the noise of staying at a higher rpm for a brief moment then the noise of deceleration. I repeated this several times. The a/c...

What do I need to do???

I used OEM plugs and gapped them properly. My 40 ran fine after the new plugs ... it's only when i installed a new dist. cap, rotor, and wires today that it started running rougher.

What do I need to do???

I put in new wires/plugs/etc. as a general tuneup. It is a 1977 fj40. It was running fine, and ran fine with the new plugs. It's just today when I replaced the distr. cap, rotor and plug wires that it started running rougher. I just went out and drove it again. The engine runs strong in 1st...

What do I need to do???

I changed the rotor, distributor cap and plug wires on my 1977 fj40. I had changed the plugs two weeks ago. Just after the change today, the car starts stronger, idles *OK*, but seems to hesitate some under acceleration (which is a new phenomenon). The hesitation is most noticable when at a...
