Work on the Cruiser has been slow but I think I have the suspension pretty much where I want it. I like the where it ended up and I guess that is all that matters. I got a few other things done on it as well.
The brakes on my Cruiser have never been good. When I went to the 37's as you can...
No, my rear axles are not stock and to access the seals I have to go in through the axle housing so that is just work that I didn't want to do right now. Pain in the butt.
I was getting fluid leaking onto my tire so I pulled the wheel off and there was fluid in the axle shaft housing. I...
Should I expect the axle shaft housings on my rear axle to be completely free of diff fluid or will some small amounts be present?
My inner seal on my axles are towards the differential and so I would have to take the differential all apart to replace the seal and don't really want to do that...
The Phoenician, nice looking rig. I think yours is most like my stance is right now, with the rear being a little higher. How is it when you are wheeling? Does it ever feel top heavy to you? I know you are always going to get some of that when you do a SOA but just curious. Thanks!
Hojack, they look like twins, we have the same front bumper and it looks like the same rear bumper. Great taste!
I definitely think mine sits higher in the rear and that is what I don't like. I like the look with the lower rear. May have to make some adjustments.
This looks very nice! It looks like your front is about my height but your rear is lower. I think that is the difference. When I get mine out on the road it looks like a stink bug and I think that is what I don't like. So maybe I just need to work on lowering the rear a bit. Thank you!
Still...
It started out with a spring under using OME heavy duty springs. I did the SOA and took a leaf out of the front and rear.
I have not been able to use it at all yet so the only thing I am going on is looks, and sometimes, when it is out off the lift it just looks a little high and I wonder...
For some reason, it doesn't look as high in pictures as it does in real life. Anyway, this is how mine sits now with the spare on back. I tested it and even with another 200+ pounds in back it will only go down another half inch maybe. Mine measures 9 inches front and 9 inches back from top of...
I did a SOA on my 62 and finished a couple of weeks ago. I did not use OEM springs and some are telling me that it is just right, others say that it is too high. My gut tells me it is probably a tad high but I have nothing to compare it to as I have never had a 60 series before. I am running 37...
No proportioning valve. Lines go right to the brakes.
Getting good volume out of the front lines. Not sure how the lines are hooked up, I will check tonight. I just changed the MC, not sure what brand, I got one from Auto Zone.
No the pedal is not firm at all, it goes right to the floor...
I see no movement in the front but I do see movement in the rear brakes.
I thought about taking the MC off and make sure I get movement in the pushrod. I figured I did because the rear brakes work but perhaps I will check in anyways.
I have a vacuum tester, I will check to make sure I am...
Still working on the brakes. I just replaced the MC thinking that was the problem. While it was off I checked the depth of the pin on the booster and adjusted that. I bled the MC and then installed and bled the crap out of the lines. Still no peddle.
Today I lifted the front end up and found...
3_puppies, did not know there was a specific clearance needed between booster and master. I either need to research that or take it to a brake specialist which would mean trailering it there.
Thanks guys.
Sorry, I should have made that clear. I have Diamond axles that have been converted over to discs on all four.
The e-brake is not currently hooked up (another issue for another day).
Thanks
Before I start buying parts and replacing, I thought I would put this out here for your thoughts.
I bought my FJ62 a few months ago out of state. Drove it home (the brakes sucked then) brought it home put it on the lift and have been working on it since. Just before I bought it, the previous...
Yeah, I think it will settle down pretty good and be OK.
It is doable working on a 4 post lift but it can get a little sketchy sometimes. I wanted the two post but my concrete wasn't thick enough. It works great for everything else!
