After much debate in the sacred halls of the Ih8mud forums between 4Runners, LX200s and GX's, I finally found a rig that had been well taken care of and was less than 500 miles away. The pickings were slim but patience paid off.
2012 GX460 Premium with all four switches by the shifter
69K miles...
I just finished an exhausted search for a mid $30's priced rig. Wanted Toyota of course, so I looked at early LX570 / LC200s, 4Runners and only near the end, the GX460. One problem was availability as I am remote and had to travel to see anything. My quest revealed that the LC200 and Lexus...
Want vs Need. However, sometimes you need what you want ;)
You have a great, reliable rig now. Comfortable and uber reliable. Only down side is that it's not great off road and has next to zero aftermarket, I imagine, for cool add ons. And you can get killer rear seat entertainment...
The older one has fewer miles. Would have the PPI done
The newer one is for sale at a Toyota dealer and I have a copy of their trade in inspection and it looks fine, so no need to pay to have that repeated.
Hopefully these 'vs' questions aren't too much and actually go to stoke the search tool with more info.
I am already LC200 / LX570 shy as I have had a couple shady situations pop up during my search. Today I found an interesting mix - a tech package 2011 with 96,xxx miles AND 09 with only 58K...
I am an Alaska resident (no sales tax) working in Montana (no sales tax) and was not 'allowed' to buy a Washington state car unless I paid taxes or paid to have it shipped to AK. Despite having a couple AK ID's and address (subleasing , so no utility bills like they wanted) and the fact I told...
No idea - must be a porous plastic or coating they used. The LX's do not have this issue anywhere. A quick search did not reveal any other Toyotas having this problem. Guy selling it said 'someone will buy it' Not me.
Best to see this one in person - I was interested and a buddy near there checked it out. There is a lot of wear and staining on the interior. Would necessitate replacement of a lot of trim pieces in front and back if you cared at all about appearance. Looks like dried milk but won't come off...
Great looking rig! Do those wheels have a model number or product name? Cool wheel but have no idea how to order it...
Also, do you think you could put on snow chains as your LX sits now? Going back and forth between Alaska and Montana, the need is real (RUDD Grip 4X4) I saw a poor Range...
After a long hiatus, I am getting back into the Cruiser arena.
The LX comes with these ridiculous factory gangster wheels I want to ditch ASAP. Smaller LC wheels would allow more (and cheaper) tires options plus the benefits of the larger sidewall.
Being brand spanking new to these models, I...
Having sold three 80's, all built, I think I can say the days of them fetching big money are long gone. If you want to sell it, man up and name a price. Many of us do not buy fromebay and fewer like to play games with our money.
