Does anyone happen to have the part numbers for Bilstein 5125 shocks to fit the front of an FJ40 with Ford shock towers and OME (two-inch) springs? A search through several threads revealed no specifics.
Thanks for any guidance . . .
I'd like to sell the PTO winch removed from my 1973 FJ40. It "ran when parked," which was about five years ago. I believe all the parts are there, plus a few spares it seems I had laying around, such as extra PTO gears. However, if you don't see it here, I probably do not have it. It will need...
Surprised no one has addressed this yet: You should never, ever, ever insert an elastic element into a winch system. Spend the money and replace your steel cable with synthetic, and if you need an extension make that synthetic as well. The additional safety is worth the cost, not to mention the...
I second the Ravelco system. No moving parts to go bad on an extended journey, and virtually impossible to thwart without hours of work. It won't prevent the contents of the vehicle being stolen, but short of running into a thief with a tow truck, you know your vehicle will be there when you...
I was in touch with Tom recently, and he was working on the last revisions. I expect it will be available soon, and it's nice to be able to get it directly from Desert Winds.
Everyone,
Ages ago I installed a Wilwood disc brake kit from Manafre. It was the old style for which you had to remove the entire hub to install or remove the disc. Several years ago I bought the upgrade kit, with the new style disk that simply pushes on over the wheel studs. However, I just...
Thanks for the additional thoughts. I'll check the distributor, and look again for an exhaust problem. But logic keeps telling me, old carb, no backfiring; new carb, backfiring = problem in new carb.
Since the jets are pretty much identical between old and new, would anything else cause it to...
Okay - I checked over the exhaust, tightened everything. Could find no visual or audible evidence of a leak. Which doesn't guarantee there isn't one, I'm sure. But that plus the fact that there was no backfiring at all with the old carb, and sudden exuberant backfiring with the new carb, makes...

Just kidding. Here is the carb:
It's on a desmogged '74 F engine, no modifications but an old header and larger exhaust, and a large-cap 2F distributor. The carb has ported vacuum for the distributor.
Main jets are 1.14 and 1.8
Old carb: 1.09 and 1.80. So very little difference.
