if you get depserate i had some made up a while ago by a machine shop in Melbourne who did them quite often, very well made but cost $90AUS. surely theres someone local to you but if you do get desperate i can look up the name
is it possible to take appart the floor mounted dimmer switches? mine was totally siezed but after some wd40 the spring is moving, still not hearing anything moving inside though
hey guys, im in oz with a 1970 40 and am looking for a replacement headlight bezel. they're hard to come by and the only one i found was asking AU$250 raw which i wasnt happy to pay. mine has rust holes in it but if thats the price for a replacement il weld up my current one.
are they rare...
Hendrik - all the 60's i see at that are from quokka but occasionally carsales.com.au. they're all unrego'ed as im only going to be using for parts. there was one in a few weeks ago not sure if its still there but 85% complete for $650. theyre 20+ years old and most will have been abused...
thanks for the response crushers. i was thinking of fitting 60 series axles since il have them anyway, may just do that to overcome the handbrake problems.
btw love the biuld you're doing on the 1hz cruiser, im following closely!
cheers for the responses, i'd like to get a 1hz with tranny but it would be too expensive for me that way. i can get hold of a 60 series for $1000AUS, this gives me a h55f, transfer, spare engine, power steering, option of wider axles, front disc brakes, and so on. the only thing it doesnt have...
digging up an old thread here, (and highjacking!!) i have a 1970 1F 3sp fj40 (in oz). its nearing completion and one of the first things i'l do after rego is swap in a 5sp. Here as many of you know the fj60 came with a h55f and the complete trucks are available cheaply for parts. down track a...
theyre after market. i have bought the bailey seals, the factory ones were a sort of furry material and square cut, the ones i bought are rubber and a completely different design. i havnt tested the fit as the frames are getting sandblasted, but they look quite good, although on the packet it...
ok so for all you aussies with early doors, they are available through rare spares. the prices vary depending on stock, but basically im paying;
bailey channel: $25ea
window seals: $50 per side
door seals: $70ea
qtr seals $60ea
this brings the total to $410AUS, im going to see what can be...
im restoring the doors on a 1970 40, but in Aus i cant find anyone who supplies seal kits. i want every seal and rubber in the door as the ones i have are in bad shape.
Are there any suppliers in the states (or Oz that i dont know about) who sell them? if not what have other guys done?
where i am in Oz theres not one near, id prolly have to send the pieces off and was hoping not to do that. I may try blasting and if it doesnt work well then send it all off
i have a few bits that are chromed (headlight surround, glove box cover, speedo surround) but the chrome is beyond savable. in parts it has flaked off completely due to rust.
i want to de-chrome and podercoat these bits. is sand blasting the best way to go about this? will i actually be...
hey mate, im currently doing a ground up refit on an early 1970, about 2 years ago i pulled out the rear wiring section with the intention of replacing it all. im not too fussed about OEM so dont really have a use for it. its been in a box ever since, but from what i can remember its pretty...
woops forgot about that banjo fitting (been a while since i've looked at the old cylinder!)
so theres no probs with using the later master with the older slave?
i have a 1970 cruiser (9mm brake lines) and im replacing the clutch master cylinder. As well as this, im upgrading the brakes to discs and hence 10mm fittings.
looking at the newer (75'-80') clutch masters, they also have a 3/4 bore like the 1970, so the only difference i can see is the 10mm...
very nice looking machine there mate, do u mind chucking up a few more pics of the master cyl and booster?
i have just updated my 70' fj but i cut off the top part of the reo plate that goes up the fire wall, bored out the centre hole n drilled new mounting holes, looks like yours has been...
