Nope. No rear axle. Just the frame and body. I'm thinking of trying to just take the body. My frame is in pretty good condition. The body definitely needs replacing though.
I'm thinking of buying a Cruiser body and frame from someone on the board. It resides in a town on the border of NC and VA and I need to get it back to Northeast FL. It does not even roll, so a trailer would be a necessity.
Any thoughts on how I can do this inexpensively? Any volunteers...
Al is putting together a run in Ocala for the last weekend in July. They're talking camping Friday night, etc. I doubt I'll make the camping as I have a little one at home (sorry, Al) but I'm thinking about driving down and catching up with them on Saturday morning. If you'd like to join me...
Steve,
There are a few Cruiserheads here in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area. Don't know of any wheeling around here. The local guys usually head down to Alpha Pit in Ocala (see post by Lowtideride).
But if you're in the area and want to wrench or talk about Cruisers over some beers...
I have a coffee mug with a wide flange on the bottom. The flange fits nicely under the bottom of my stock center console. Keeps the mug from sliding around or tipping over.
But I like the idea of mounting a swivel mug holder on the front of the console.
I have this picture. Don't know who's truck it is but this is what I'm going to have fabbed for my truck.

I finally got around to weighing the oil pan. 15 lbs with packaging. I just got a quote from UPS of $12.33. RCB, let me know if you still want this. If not I'll contact arcteryx.
Thanks.
I was sure the turn signal problem was a grounding until I pulled the hazard switch the other day. Hazards work fine. Those wouldn't work if the lights weren't grounded properly. The lights don't dim at all when I turn them on, they just don't blink.
Where is the fan controller found?
What is the most logical approach for tracking down a problem with my carb cooling fan? The fan hasn't worked since I got the truck over 6 years ago.
I have pulled the fan out and hooked it directly to the battery and it turns on with no problem. What else should I check?
Also, turn...
I agree with Nick. I did a rebuild a couple years ago and working a few evenings a week and the weekend in the garage, it took me about a month to complete. This included the time that the block and head were at the machine shop. The shop found that I did not need to overbore or replace my...
I need to get rid of some parts. Here's what I've dug out so far:
steering box (manual) from my 1978 FJ40. I took it out because I thought it was the problem. Turned out to be something else. So, I have a spare steering box sitting around. $75 + shipping
Vacuum switching valve. bought...
It leaks between the pan and the skid plate. I just got sick of cleaning up the garage floor. rcb, you were first so I'll get a quote for shipping to Savannah. I'm actually only a couple hours South of you if you're ever in the area.
where do you find the wire wheels? I've only seen the ones at HD that fit the bench grinder. They never seem to have wheels that will hold together at 12,000 rpm. Looks great though. Makes me want to get out to the garage and start working on it.
Do you spray it with primer as soon as you...
I have an oil pan off of a 2F that leaked a bit. I replaced it with a brand new oil pan from Toyota. The old oil pan needs a new home but it will go out with the garbage next week.
If you'd like it, it's free. You just have to pay shipping. Drop me a PM.
David
what did you strip the sides with? Grinder/sander or paint stripper? Just curious. I'm about to start the same project. I'll probably be looking for some new sides once I get into these old ones.
