Selling my family member. 1988 FJ62. We’ve enjoyed this work horse for nearly 15 years, but my work necessitates a pickup. Since purchasing a pickup in 2021, she’s not really been used. Time for someone else to give her some...
Howdy. Made the dumb mistake of telling the detailer to do the engine bay when prepping my 1988 FJ62 for sale. Now it won't start.
It's been 5 days. Engine bay is dry. Distributor has spark. Not sure what else to test. Any thoughts?
TIA!
Sorry for posting here - I know it's supposed to be in the wanted section, but I think I'll get more responses here.
Anyway, I have my FJ62 torn apart and found that my last distributor was torn up (don't ask). Electrical works, but the shaft/gears are toast.
Anyone have a dead...
Some odd issues for me with my 1988 FJ62. I bought it 3 years ago and did a complete restoration. All new cap, rotor, wires, etc... (along with $20k of other stuff).
Anyway, it sat parked about a month and tried to start it the other day and it'd turn over but not start.
Pulled out my...
Got the cart before my horse and took out my old gasket without noticing the orientation. Which way does it go (fsm isn't helpful)?
Thx
Robert
I presume the first pic. FYI this is the gasket attached to the top gate itself.
I just read that there are tie down points in the cargo area in the FJ62. For the life of me I don't see them in my 1988 FJ62. Can someone snap a pic of the location and what they look like?
Thanks
Robert
Sorry. Just have to share this with everyone. It's the little things that make me excited.
Due to my 33" tires, my speedo was off ~13%. I ordered a ratio adapter from Commercial Speedometer Service in Sacramento, CA. It took <5 minutes to install, and now everything is accurate (per my...

I'm looking for the main body ground point in the rear cargo area. The FSM doesn't indicate the ground locations (or I'm missing where in the FSM that info is found), but the wiring diagram shows grounds in the "rear panel".
Can someone clarify where this is? I'm trying to add a blue sea...

So I installed the grant steering wheel w/ security adapter (so I can remove the wheel) and (long story short) have no working horn.
I know w/ the Toyotas they were wired differently than many typical vehicles, so am wondering if I need to do something different from the included...

Trying to wrap up my wiring project I've run into a couple of snafus.
1) My head unit isn't getting power. Where is the factory fuse for the head unit?
2) I can't find a constant 12V power source (well, perhaps I did in the head unit, but perhaps the fuse is blown...). If NOT using the...
Retrofitting rear belts into my 88 and need someone to take a pic of their drivers side seatbelt assembly. I am trying to figure out how to route the wiring loom.
Thx
Robert
Guys,
I posted this in the 60's section, but realized this may be more productive. Please take a gander if you have suggestions on how to route power wires to my roof rack lights...
Guys,
I've been wiring up my roof lights (front and backup) and had originally thought of going down the a-pillar straight into the engine bay, but the weld in that seam (pic A) is uneven, and the wires don't tuck in all the way. So I'd have to fill in the gap with something. That idea was...
While installing my stereo, I just discovered that the 5.25" Alpines I'm installing do clear the windows, but they're 4 hole and the Toyota factory speakers are 3 hole.
How do guys install those? Do you use adapters? Or do you just drill 4 new holes?
If you use an adapter, can you shoot me...
I did a search but came up with nada. I'm assuming because we have mechanical devices, there is nothing we can do to recalibrate them for new gears/tires other than swapping for electrical units.
Is that right?
Anyone out there make gears to swap out and get these more accurate?
FYI...
