The quality might be sufficient, but it's not equivalent according to the designer. Anyway, if you're truly interested, sign up to lcool (you need to be a member to access the forums) and search. It's been discussed. Plenty of people happy with Chinese snorkels, plenty who'll only use Safari.
Per the guy who designed them, the new longer Safari offers increased air flow and forces removal of restrictive intake bottlenecks (that a lot of people in Oz do anyway) compared to the old one. On their test vehicle with the 1HD-FTE the new snorkel gave increases of 10.73hp over stock (no...
I got 27.6723039mpg according to the trip computer a few weeks ago on a 40 mile trip. Average speeds were favourable for good mileage and it is a diesel though.
I just bought a tray to try Paul's idea on my 1HD-T. It was pretty cheap from Toyota here in Australia.
1HZ Oil Filter Catch Tray Paul’s esoteric meanderings
It should fit the 1HD-T the same as the 1HZ and 1KZ-TE. I'm going to fit a barbed drain fitting and run a length of hose down to drain...
I got the impression he had OEM shocks and OEM lifted springs, but maybe I misunderstood. I'll ask him again in a few weeks or maybe he'll see this thread. But that was the point of my question, I thought there was such a thing as an OEM lift and also OEM longer adjustable shocks.
The mirrors...
I was visiting a guy (member Clarkie) today with an ex-Japanese VX. He told me his lift is all OEM (he bought it like that), can't remember but I think it's a 3". His shocks are electronically controlled in the dash with a rocker switch with "normal" and "sports" settings or something. It's not...
I've got some feedback on lcool and a picture (not my vehicle or pic):
It's the middle switch on the curved part of the dash, the one with the three buttons. None of you guys have this type of button on NA-spec vehicles?
I'm trying to work out exactly what my antenna switch does. Currently I have no electric antenna (removed by a previous owner) but I'm looking into fitting one. I don't have a camera at the moment, it's overseas so words'll have to do.
My antenna switch has three buttons, a wide "auto" button...
I dunno what your budget is but I guess you've seen the brand new 1hd-ts on ebay for ~$8,000. On top of that you've got to factor in shipping from Vic and like you say, injection system, manifolds, turbo. So presumably not much change (if any) from $12,000 with all those parts.
Yeah, all that came off the plug. I had replaced the oil before reading that I should've cleaned out the diff first, seems a few people did that. Whoops. I'll do it when I do the front end.
I've done searches and find some conflicting info on this. Some say only fine flaky particles are OK, others say small chunks are acceptable and a manufacturing byproduct. I couldn't find pics for comparison. Anyway here's my pic:
For reference, the coin is 19mm / 3/4" diameter. This is the...
Enough to be embarrassed in the context of this thread (about 3000 miles). I suspect/hope the PO might've put the mismatched tires on to sell it.
Not yet.
Hopefully this Xmas will allow that. It's not a daily driver so it can sit around most of the time while I save up for new shoes.
My PO did this. I've still got the 275/70R16s on the front and 265/75R16s on the back. So that's a 0.492" diameter difference and a 1.54" circumference difference between front and back. Obviously a lesser extreme than the 31" vs 33" but how bad was/is it for the VC? Anyone know of people who've...
Not below the controls for the aircon:
i.e. above the aircon controls. Once again, it's the curved switch you want for a '93 and it's the curved switch that will fit right in a blank in your dash and plug straight in to the wiring loom behind the dash. I'm sure it's been discussed here on...
