Video Walkthrough I made for a potential buyer
I bought this truck on Oahu in 2020 but this Land Cruiser was originally purchased new in Kona. The original owner kept paper work of the service that...
Thank you for the responses.
The difficult part is, there aren't many transmission shops in Hilo, Hawai'i.
We have a dealership in town but I am apprehensive about what they will charge.
I wrench on the FJ60 quite often but this 100 series is my lady's and I haven't done much work on it.
Thanks for the response!
The noise stays the same in every gear, as well as switching from H4 to L4.
The rattle does speed up very slightly when gas it given but no substantial change.
Hey all,
Was recently driving out on the highway and broke down about 100 miles from home.
The LC suddenly lost gears and developed this rattling sounds, see video.
Does anyone have any idea what the noise is?
Take care
Did you find the problem?
I am currently in the same situation. I live in a fairly remote area and there aren't many transmission shops around aside from the dealership.
87’ has been and still running great for month now. Was poking around after noticing a vacuum cap had come off and was wonder what these lead to (see photo) they’ve never been hooked up while I’ve been the owner. Truck never over heats, temp goes up then drops to about 1/4 up.
I love this thread. I wanted to put one in on a dash switch. Can I just cut and reroute one of these wires to run through a switch? If so, which wire is best?
I live on O’ahu. It’s hot as hell here.
The previous owner of my ‘87 FJ60 removed the relay and set the CCF on a switch.
I’ve turned it on now and then but have never NEEDED it on in any situation. It has a Holley carb on it.
Not sure what this means but just my experience
Thank you all!
Looks like Aisin is the way to go.
@HemiAlex I love this idea. I live in Hawai’i near the ocean so any drop in upgrades are greatly appreciated, especially when it comes to engine cooling!
Good evening all,
My mechanic recently did a value adjustment, carb tuning and replaced the distributor on my ‘87 FJ60. All went well and now the truck is purring as it should, but the fan is screaming! The clutch is seized and the whole unit needs to be cranked off and a new water pumps needs...
My Toyota service department just accepted my recall appointment for next week in Hawai'i.
Anything I need to ensure or ask before they begin the work? I would hate for them to tear parts off old parts and not have new parts to replace.
Hey everyone, my desmogged '87 FJ60 developed a leak in the Holley carb, appears to be coming from the accelerator pump and/or below the float bowl area.
I was thinking these are my options;
1. having someone rebuild the whole thing but I live in Hawai'i and I haven't been able to find anyone...
