I am currently rewiring my 74 with an ez wiring harness. I am using the original gauges and soldered in all the connections to the 12 pin round thingy that plugs into the back of the stock gauge cluster. I had one wire left over and of curse it is the 12 v power feed. SO the the question is...
It's a 21 circuit ez wiring harness. Really to big for the cruiser but was bought for my cuda originally but that project is moving a lot slower. And as an electrician times are pretty slow so instead of buying a 12 or 15 circuit harness I decided to use this one and just make it work.
Slowly but surely I will get my cruiser out of the garage and on the rode this summer. Moved a little more forward last night and started wiring the cruiser.
went to auto parts store and tried a few different style of ends for my front end. The guy told me it was a bubble flared end on some of my tee fittings I brought and that the double flared ends won't work is this true or can I use the double flared ends and call it good.
got the other side done this weekend so now I can start running new brake line. I have never done it before but I bend conduit as an electrician so I hope it should be about the same. I'm guessing thou I can"t just go to my local auto parts store to buy new brake line that will fit my 74 with...
Well finally started back on the cruiser this weekend. Replacing the old drums with disc brakes from a 76 cruisers. Its going pretty slow but its coming together. After I get the front rebuilt I will start plumbing the brakes and running the new wiring harness.
I would guess rear because most factory lockers are in the rear. Probably a stress issue if you are lock up and have the wheel turned to far left or right you could start breaking stuff. Don't take my word thou its just a guess.
I hope to start this as my next project next year. I bought it out in california about 10 years ago when I was in the marine corp. Its a 1973 plymouth barracuda with a 340 small block. These are really old pics I Have better ones somewhere.
I am in need of some new disc brake dust covers for the front axel, where in the heck does a guy buy some. I tried my local toyota dealer and he said he can't get them.
