    MYTH or NO MYTH

Have you seen the Top Gear episode with Toyota truck? Very impressive! http://youtube.com/watch?v=MMrqsnK0eh8

    MYTH or NO MYTH

The idea is you reset the ECU. Once it's reset, start driving like a grandma, and it is supposed to adapt quicker which means better gas mileage. You won't be getting good gas mileage while the ECU is learning. And I imagine if you drive like a grandma long enough, the ECU will adapt naturally.

    Cruiser Didn't Start This Morning

I did this while losing charge and it made a nice difference. I replaced the negative and ground cables.

    New Carb, won't start

A quick update: Looked over all the hoses again and it seemed they were all in the right position, pumped the gas a bunch of times and it started up. There was some smoke but I'm guess that's any extra carb cleaner and the WD-40 I sprayed on some bolts/screws being burned off. When I...

    Carb Installation (hoses)

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=136990 Well I'm having a bit of a problem. The engine does sound stronger, but it's just stalling out. I'm hoping I just made a small mistake and will be able to fix it today.

    New Carb, won't start

Yes, I should have been clear - completely stock FJ60 with an Aisan carb. Is ICS the green electrical plug? If so I'm fairly sure it did click, I'll add that to the list of things I'm going to check again. I'm going to also go over the vac lines again. I guess the fact that it'll start...

    New Carb, won't start

So I put in a nice shiny rebuilt carb. That's the only thing I changed out. When I start it, it cranks (better than before actually) and I got it to start up but then it'd immediately stall. I double checked the vaccum lines and they all appear to be in the correct location...

    Carb Installation (hoses)

Awesome, thanks! Is that from the Emissions Manual? I have the body/chasis manual and engine manual but neither have that diagram. Edit: looking it over, does it even matter what line goes where? (I still plan to put them in in the correct order) It looks like all the lines go into...

    Carb Installation (hoses)

OK, so I've got a rebuilt carb almost ready to put in. I tried to take some pics but couldn't get a great view. There's 4 tubes coming out of the side of the carb. They connect to 4 lines that are stacked vertically. Can someone tell me which goes to the other? Bent left tube...

    Power Antenna Replacement

My dad has a 2000 4Runner with the power antenna. Currently the antenna won't go down. When you turn on the radio you can hear the motor grind/click. It's safe to assume that just the antenna mast needs to be replaced right? I'd guess that the antenna is slightly bent or something. I'd...

    Carb Compatability

By the way, Jim, I did send you a PM a day or two ago. I may be willing to spend some more money on a carb rebuilt by you considering pretty much everyone around has great things to say about you.

    Carb Compatability

Cool, thanks for the info. I just found out the part number is 21100-61142. So that seems consistent with the info I've found.

    Carb Compatability

I started doing some research, but wasn't 100% sure on the results. I'm looking to buy a rebuilt carb for my 84 FJ60. I found a Aisan carb for an FJ40 w/ a 2F engine. I've figured out that Aisan carbs are the stock ones and that many people prefer stock carbs. But I haven't figured out...

    Silly brake disk question

Wow I was thinking of putting in new front rotors in a few months. Glad I found this thread, it's a bit more involved than I thought it would be!

The steps to changing my fan clutch

The shroud is supposed to come off. But when I changed mine, I couldn't get it out. I was able to wiggle the fan out with the shroud still on. So either way it's doable. Other than that, I think you need to take off 1 or 2 belts. The rest is just scraping your knuckles.

    Yet another tire advice thread

Instead of starting another thread... Has anyone had issues with 31 x 10.5's fitting on the stock suspension? Anyone have pics of this? I think I may go that route vs. getting a lift and 33" tires to save some money.

    Snow and 4wd

If the hubs are free, there should be very little torque needed to spin the front driveshaft (no resistance from the front wheels). So I don't think there would be hardly any change with the amount of torque making it to the rear tires. Maybe, at the most, it's the equivalent of using a tiny...

threw some new rims and tires on the other day...

That makes a big difference even without a lift! I'd like to get tires like that and a small lift (like 2-3") eventually. I'd be curious, too, if there is any rubbing.

    Snow and 4wd

I can't wait till we get a good 12"+ snow storm. I'll take take out the Cruiser before the roads are plowed and see if I can get myself stuck anywhere :) I had a WRX before and that could go through about 8-10" of snow fairly easily. So I imagine with more ground clearance and true 4wd, the...

    Can't get into 4-Lo

Just in case anyone may be interested... Turns out it was just jammed. The mechanic had to heat up the linkage with a torch to get it to move. Then he lubricated it. I guess the previous owner just never put it into 4-Lo. It now goes into N and 4-Lo without a problem now.
