That’s going to be cool. I’m trying to come up with something that can be easily removed when I want the hard top or left in place when the hard top is on. I probably only get 90 days a year to go topless.
Is there a full roll cage that works with the long jump seats? I know that anything less will not provide any rollover protection but I don’t think the hardtop does too much either. I might be able to use some of the pieces I have on hand to fab up a hoop and bars that could attach to the...
I have a recently restored 67 that I would like the option of going topless, almost. Curious as to what type of roll/light bar could be used to support a bikini top. I actually have some type of, supposedly roll bar, probably 1”ish tubing that I haven’t really looked closely at. It sat for...
I was under the impression that you didn’t need the knuckle centering tool if nothing more than bearings, seals etc were being replaced. Just keep track of where the shims came from and install them in the same place. Is that true or fake news?
Yes, these are the SOR bushings. I have the hone...
Thanks for info. I got it out with a slide hammer. My next issue is the replacement bushing has a raised collar that prevents it from fully seating. Unfortunately I don’t have a lathe or a local machine shop. I’m going to go full shade tree with a dremmel and sand paper.
I’ve searched high, low, left, right and in between. I cannot find anything on the procedure to replace the old brass “seals/bushings“ in the pre 69 front end. I have replacement bushings on hand, the old ball and claw joints are disassembled and I’m ready to install the bushings. Just looking...
I’m in the process of reassembling a 67 40 (which I mostly did not disassemble) and I have this one bracket that I can’t figure out where it belongs. The vehicle seems Like it was mostly original with 3 on the tree. Any help wI’ll be greatly appreciated! TIA
I can’t wait to get this rig on the...
Yes, 9mm I failed to mention the year. I finally got them out by force and drastic wiggling. My next question is why is there a T there? seems Like it’s just a union of sorts that could be eliminated..
Am I missing something on taking this T fitting apart? Surprisingly the lines came loose without much of a fight but I CANNOT get them to pull out of the fitting! I’m close to resorting to violence but it seems like theses fittings are hard to come by so trying to be delicate. Both sides spin...
She is a fighter but I got her home, actually thankful that it was all uphill due to a total lack of brakes! Fortunately the left rear has hanging enough to stop me from running through the garage…. I’ve got my hands full with this one but I look forward to learning from you guys and gals.
I’ve always loved a FJ 40. As luck would have it my neighbor had one sitting in his yard that had been largely dismantled for years. I’ve recently been bitten by the classic car bug, I spent last winter rebuilding a Datsun 240z, so I approached him about the FJ. Long story short I fiddled with...
