Hi guys. I’m posting this in the hope it might make fixing a 40 series wiper switch repair easier for someone.
Mine wasn’t working properly so I had a go at pulling it apart. That wasn’t hard but putting it back together was a major problem. It wasn’t until I sat down and had a good look at how it was made that I realised I’d pulled it apart incorrectly.
If you need to repair one then you need to unsolder the yellow and black wires first (see image). I pulled mine apart without unsoldering the wires and disaster struck. Because I had to “force” it apart everything fell out and I couldn’t figure out how to put it together again. Once you’ve unsoldered the wires straighten the 6 metal tabs and then the circuit board will easily separate from the housing. Be careful and ease the tabs that held the yellow and black wires through the circuit board; if your gentle everything will stay in place.
The rest is very straight forward but contact me if you need. All the best, Tony
