I lost track of this thread a while back, but really glad you stuck with it even though early Datsun parts are a pain. It really looks beautiful!

From the way back parts pile. Anybody want to guess where this "donation" came from? Adding this fan to see if it makes any difference. Will see if i can grab a controller tomorrow.

Got a shipping ping for the new radiator today. Perfect timing for the medford cruise stuff.
I was also able to get a fan controller locally.
Im guessing the fan (hopefully won't be needed) wont fit in the same hole.

New radiator showed up Tuesday. I didn't have the correct cap, of course. Ordered a cap. It was actually available through Nissan. Updated away from the 1-2 year only oe cap.
Super nice radiator. Mounting holes didn't hit, but were close. Little dremel action ftw. Need a couple new bolts for the shroud. Testing tomorrow.
Car show Saturday.

We drove over to south medneck and were met by a yuge line of traffic.
Car still trying to get hot while sitting.
Radiator cools very well actually moving air across it.
We bailed.
Need to figure out more fan

Moar fückery.
Fans wired and running. Trying to heat cycle in the garage. Waiting for the fans to kick off..... Forever.
Finally move cars so i can drive this pos for diag. As im walking up to drive it, it dies.
This is a generator vehicle that is maxing out at like 7amps
I guess try again tomorrow.
Pics for good measure.
These are Spal 5.2" part# 30103013 and hayden cheapo temp switch #3625. Trying to dial in the temp swing on the controller. So far its 30°+F swing
Wired through a mini relay for the sake of switch longevity.

So i played with this for a while today.
Fans seem to be working ok. Controller might suck. Still couldn't cycle them off.
Ended up fighting the voltage issue that has been showing up.
Think the regulator is fubar. Charges right until it gets hot. Then the reg doesn't want to cycle properly.

Moar über-rare parts incoming.
Talked with my friend sam the other day. He was telling me he doesn't want anything to do with restorations anymore. "That's just not why we do this"
I have to concur. I can appreciate super clean restos, but im a hot rod guy. Stock is boring.
:flipoff2:

Restos suck. They aren't fun to build and they aren't fun to drive. Even if the engine is fun then usually the brakes and suspension suck or vice versa. Messed around with 510's for a while and they had good suspension but the engine was a complete turd. Modify it and burn the tires off.

Alrighty then. New boltage regulator installed. Turns out it wasn't helping my gauges work right. Got the fans cycling where i want them. Gauge reading more where i expected. Charging system is working properly now as well. Mind you, not high output by any means.

Appears to be cooling proper now. Not sure how much it was overtemping with new radiator since the voltage regulator was clearly messing with my gauge display.
Unlike every other vehicle ive seen, the temp gauges parks at HOT when car is off. I have to assume as my battery voltage was dropping the temp display was rising whether the temp actually was or not.
