Hi all!
In the last year I have restored a Mercedes Westfalia campervan and travelled through North-America in it. During this build I found lots of helpful tips on this forum. It is now time to become a more active members and contribute to the info on Ih8mud.
In this topic I will be sharing the progress of my Land Cruiser 78.
Why did I choose a troopy?
- Reliability, availability of parts, off-road qualities, interior space.
What will I use it for?
- Trips through Europe, Scotland, Iceland, Norway and eventually a trip to Mongolia.
What is my goal for the build?
- I want a simple but practical build, not making the cruiser to heavy and keeping its great 4x4 qualities.
I picked up the cruiser a week ago and started stripping it, I want to be sure I won’t miss any rust spots.
other planned fixes:
-New exhaust
-Getting the dent out of the rear door so i can open it properly.
This is its current state:
I have removed the old camper interior and "insulation". I plan on using all the room, also the room behind the steel sheets on the sides of the body.
