Since I got my Jan '66 build FJ45 i've been hearing something that sounded like rocks rattling around in a tin can coming from around my transmission area. It wasn't speed dependent, or dependent on whether or not the clutch was in.
I removed the inspection cover, and found some stuff that had been rattling around. I found what appears to be a metal shim of some sort, and some pieces of what I suspect is (but hope isnt) clutch friction material.
Pretty sure the metal shim was the source of my rattle as it appears to have been bouncing of the pressure plate assembly and leaving marks on it.
I can't find this shim on any diagram. So I'm hoping someone knows what it is, and whether or not I should be concerned.
Is this a normal amount of material for this clutch plate, or am I looking at a clutch soon? (its not slipping right now)
