Drove my 95 hdj80 from Sudbury to Whistler BC. Left at 10:15am Friday and entered Whistler in time for lunch Sunday.
Grabbed a cold beer to celebrate with my son.
I then had him start the inner axle seal job on his hdj81, and buttoned her up in...
If you're lucky enough to have a 14B-T (or 15B-T), you may have noticed that many 14B-T specific parts are out of production. However, there is good news. The 14B-T was adapted into a series of marine engines by Yamaha, such as the ME370. These...
Have you load test the fusible link. These will light up a test light, but not enough juice for the start circuit.
Line runs from the PS battery and under the windshield washer.
I assume that both batteries are fully charged and all connectors...
This is what the fusible links look like, coming right off the positive battery terminal. Test for continuity and voltage drop across the link. If you are getting good voltage to the glow plug bus bar, but the glow plugs aren't active for long...
Yotahead is a mud member and does diesel injection rebuilds etc in British Columbia.
Looking at videos is that diesel or coolant? The automatic cold start device (ACSD) seems like problem. It has rubber coolant lines that run from head port to...
I am very happy with the zerostart circulating heater. If you are going to get a plug-in heater, you might as well.
It was easier to install than the freeze plug heater, is more powerful at 1500 watts, and it's only $118 on Amazon.
A year...
Ah!
If great when warm, then glow plugs.
Thinking that I read some additional post.
Still a stiff primer pump is a good sign no matter what you do.
We have many, many Toyota's in our underground mines, I always tested the primer as a force of...
Vaccum leak!
Air is being sucked into the fuel line.
Use a section of clear hose. Start from the IP to fuel filter and work your way towards the tank.
Air bubbles are the clue. No air bubbles and you want a firm primer especially after an...
If it is 15-20 min you probably have a airleak in your fuel lines . Shouldn’t take more then 30 seconds on a cold start for the idle to smooth out and the smoke to disappear
I decided to tack on the body mounts and weld the pieces together.
Here are some pictures of the mounts mocked up.
Still parts gathering as l go, now have almost everything including doors , rear wall and steel roof, already have a front screen...
Hey Mud -
I just picked up a new project.
The truck started life as an 1986 HJ61 in NZ. It received a 1HD-T + 4speed auto swap before making the journey over to the US in the late 00's. A tree fell on it and the PO did a body swap with an '89...
I would start with the glow plugs system.
Make sure that you have power to the busbar when the key is turned on, and as the system powers down.
If yes to the busbar, then test the glow plugs. If one is bad change them all.
Sensors:
Toyota uses...
I made a clock replacement for the 70 series.
This adds a
GPS speedometer
Time, date
Altimeter
Voltage
And lots of other features
Only needs to be connected to power that used to go to the clock...
For anyone who wants to know All done and in, looking tidy went in without any trouble bolted straight up to the auto runs and drives nice. Massive difference in power like driving a completely vehicle. Feels like it has more pick up than the 80...
So have I done me well it hasn’t left me stranded on the side of the road apart from what as happened. Yeah going in the direction of the 1hd-t. Have a 80 with the 1hd-ft in her.
You may want a tranny temp gauge, and drive accordingly.
My 91 with A442 is in Whistler BC.
Drives nice and cool in 4th gear all day, downshift and watch the heat rise quickly.
According to my son even low range does the same sort of heat...
No problems at all mixing 154W40's from different brands.
The 1HZ would be fine with olive oil in the crankcase. It's a low stress application with no special needs.
