I am very happy with the zerostart circulating heater. If you are going to get a plug-in heater, you might as well. It was easier to install than the freeze plug heater, is more powerful at 1500 watts, and it's only $118 on Amazon. A year...

Ah! If great when warm, then glow plugs. Thinking that I read some additional post. Still a stiff primer pump is a good sign no matter what you do. We have many, many Toyota's in our underground mines, I always tested the primer as a force of...

Vaccum leak! Air is being sucked into the fuel line. Use a section of clear hose. Start from the IP to fuel filter and work your way towards the tank. Air bubbles are the clue. No air bubbles and you want a firm primer especially after an...

If it is 15-20 min you probably have a airleak in your fuel lines . Shouldn’t take more then 30 seconds on a cold start for the idle to smooth out and the smoke to disappear

Hey Mud - I just picked up a new project. The truck started life as an 1986 HJ61 in NZ. It received a 1HD-T + 4speed auto swap before making the journey over to the US in the late 00's. A tree fell on it and the PO did a body swap with an '89...

I would start with the glow plugs system. Make sure that you have power to the busbar when the key is turned on, and as the system powers down. If yes to the busbar, then test the glow plugs. If one is bad change them all. Sensors: Toyota uses...

You may want a tranny temp gauge, and drive accordingly. My 91 with A442 is in Whistler BC. Drives nice and cool in 4th gear all day, downshift and watch the heat rise quickly. According to my son even low range does the same sort of heat...
