What's the update? What'd your mechanic say?

    Clutch (possible linkage) Issue

Sounds like a great place to start Sig191144. It hasn't been driven in probably the last 6 weeks, but then it drove (and shifted) like a champ. Random Dan, there aren't obvious signs of a leak and the reservoir seems to have enough fluid. Unfortunately my work schedule is getting crazy and I...

    Clutch (possible linkage) Issue

Howdy! Bear with my lack of knowledge. My 1981 FJ40 will start up, but won't go into gear (any of them). The pedal is really slack. The spring is engaged, and I can't tell if there's a linkage issue. Searching the forum mostly has results re: whole clutch jobs. Taking apart the master...

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

Update: I got tired of waiting for my regular mechanic to schedule me as my tags were already expired, so in desperation I went to a local smog shop where the owner assured me he could get it to pass. For the NO he replaced the EGR Transducer Valve and for the filler neck issue he pressure...

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

Thanks doug720 and MANUCHAO ! These are great last ditch options. In the meantime, my mechanic has found a used filler neck that is hopefully in better condition than mine! As always, this community is very helpful! Thanks again!

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

Yes, new CA Emissions testing pressure tests the cap and fill neck individually. I think this is new since my last emissions test 2 years ago.

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

Thanks doug720! So here's the question: is the piece with the threads replaceable independent of the fill pipe?

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

Thanks GLTHFJ60. My issue isn't the gas cap though as that actually checked out fine during the Smog test (they pressure test it individually). I think my problem is here (red arrow) where wear from the gas cap has worn away metal:

    1990 CA FJ62 Smog/Fuel Fill Neck Issue

It's been a long while, but I'm hoping someone with more experience can help: My 1990 Truck has always passed CA smog no problem, but this year my NO numbers are high: The tech at the Test Only Smog Center also told me the gas fill neck wasn't sealing properly. My mechanic suspects the...

1980 FJ40 Speedo Cable: OEM or Aftermarket

Nuclearlemon: Good thought, but no Parker stores nearby! John: I'll check out Mark's–he's in Burbank which is close by. Yah, I'm thinking longer is better for sure.

1980 FJ40 Speedo Cable: OEM or Aftermarket

On my inaugural drive from Los Angeles to Palm Springs with my 1980 FJ40, my speedo went out–was holding steady around 60mph, then dropped to 0mph! Thinking it may have jiggled loose I pulled the cluster, but it was firmly seated. After checking the end at the trans and verifying all good...

FJ 62 Mirror - missing part

Hey Y'all, I live in LA(some of the residential streets are quite small) and had the unfortunate experience of a work van's sideview mirror colliding with my DS Mirror and popping the glass clean off. I, like you, thought I could just replace the glass/head... to no avail. I ended up...

    Cutting through chrome

www1221us, Can't help you with Cuttin' Chrome... but I recently rehabbed my bumper. A PO had broken the rivets and welded the bumper brackets on to accomodate a winch. The position of the welded-bumper didn't jive with the recovery hook and its absence always bothered me. So, a little fender...

    88 FJ62 Battery Drain

So, Wile E., and Ming, It took a National Holiday for me to make time to finally pull everything apart and figure things out (sort of). Oh, the wife was busy gardening, so that helped as well! I pulled the driver's door apart and got at the Master Switch, which is, as you can see, looks...
