I got the truck started! After I figured out the glow plug wiring and bleeding the injector pipes it fired right up. Runs smoothly. Now I need to figure out fuel, coolant system, ATF cooling, brakes, and finish off electrical. I’ve been chasing down fittings for the ATF cooling system...

Left tail light lens that was warped due to heat from the fire. Indication as to how close the flames got. Fortunately as far as it got.

Sorted out the neutral safety switch such that the key now turns the starter. Validated good oil pressure with a multi-meter. Seems the gauge and the sending unit are not properly synchronized. Now working on fuel. I've had trouble finding the 3-pos connector for the IP. It's available here...

I got the starter spinning. But haven't been able to actually do so "properly" using the starter wire from the chassis wiring harness. I suspect the issue is the neutral safety switch circuit. Four of five connectors from the chassis found their proper homes on the trans/t-case wiring harness...

I am imagining that the harness on the other side of the engine bay (pictured below) is for the alternator connection. Seems like there will be a number flipped harness locations relative to actual component location on the engine block as it's an LHD body with a RHD configured 1HD-T.

Hi All - I changed the oil and attempted to pull the glow plugs to drop some oil into the cylinders. I found access to be a little tricky, so might have to move the cross over pipe to get in there. I spun the crank with a breaker bar and it rotated smoothly. I had a look inside the valve cover...

Truck is now situated at its new work space for the next few months. I got the new starter installed as well as the battery tray. Plan to remove glow plugs and spin by hand this week sometime.

Sweet - thanks for all of the info. I just got my starter. Looking forward to getting this thing moving soon. Copy on the Racor 445. @PBcuiser do you mind sharing a few photos of how you laid out your engine bay? Fuel filter and vac reservoir are the two items that are top of mind, but it would...

I found some useful info in this thread that describes the Yanmar 6LP generic part number compatibility and am going to order an inexpensive 12V starter from amazon to get spinning! Still looking for an injector pipe source. Spent the day yesterday cleaning out some space at my uncle's...

Sweet! Can't wait. I've had a HD in an 80 series and loved it. Pretty excited to get this rolling. I am still waiting on CruiserParts to ship the injector pipes. Wondering what they are not telling me. I have a message out to Terrain Tamer. Still looking for a 12V starter, too. For now, just...

Hey Mud - I just picked up a new project. The truck started life as an 1986 HJ61 in NZ. It received a 1HD-T + 4speed auto swap before making the journey over to the US in the late 00's. A tree fell on it and the PO did a body swap with an '89 FJ62 (US spec). While he was putting it back...

    For Sale TRADE : 1981 BJ42 for FJ62

I posted because I wanted to trade for a 60 series. If the right one came along, I would trade it. I'm not actively trying to get rid of it, so I haven't bothered to post it for sale. That said, at the end of the day most of my stuff is for sale for the right price 🤠
