This is the way. I did the same thing when I installed mine today. I could see the sheet metal flexing when it was mounted at a single point. With this way it has zero flex and works perfectly.

Yeah, mine ended up being the plug I put in where the EGR temp sensor used to be. A little more Teflon tape fixed it right up.
