Did you install the hyperspark ignition and coil also? Which model. When I did my Camaro it was easy to install sniper, distributor, ignition and coil. Everything you need is spec’s out and available. I used Chris at EFI.
Any update? I’m about out of troubleshooting and it’s down to ignition. Good vacuum but it bogs down when you stomp on it. Vacuum good to the distributor and steady at idle. Rather not spend time fixing this one if I’m going to end up with a hyperspark or DUI.
I think you need to just sell me that hyperspark and buy another one. I’d love to have that setup but I don’t think I should be playing with the tools it took to make it right. So you’re not doing hyperspark ignition or coil?
Mine is idling high, like 1400, and it’s not coming up to temp to...
That’s above my pay grade. Hopefully not long before someone sells the updated hyperspark. Put a hyperspark distributor, ignition and coil in my 72 Z28 and it is awesome. Wired it all up, turned the key, and started like a 2021 Camaro.
Removed it. It that fuel inlet was sitting right against the piece holding the oil filter. I spent so much time looking at that, and about 5 minutes just removing the darned thing. It sure looked connected and I was already asking myself why there would be a coolant fed oil cooler there.
this is the frustrating thing about jumping into a bastardized rig. The book is about worthless. So although it looks like it’s going to the cooler it is not? Going in later today to remove.
Currently doing a sniper conversion on a 76. Got to the point where I’m taking off the mechanical fuel pump and there appears to be an oil line going to the oil cooler right under the oil filter. I can’t find anything about it. Is it ok to plug the outlet coming out of the cooler? I’ve got the...
I had some setbacks this year and just got back on the project. Tank installed and plumbing complete, I think. All of the wiring is run with connectors made. I have run into an issue taking out the old mechanical fuel pump. Do you cap the oil line coming from the oil cooler?
Lots of progress...
I underestimated the amount of “rigging” you’d have to do. Compared to a gen 2 Camaro where everything you need is made by Holley.
i Would say the more original your FJ is the easier it will be.
I hadn’t gone to the Sniper forums. I’m a little upset about a parts list that says Earl’s hose and actually getting Gates. Is this any issue, except another reason why not to buy the master kit? It looks like it will be running from the tank to the Sniper at least for now.
After lurking and learning here I decided to take the plunge. I would say I’m 4 hours in to the actual install and this is what I have already run into.
1. Don’t get the kit. It may be fine on some cars, but the FJ you’re going to need adapters, and getting the Holley kit only handles the easy...
