Hi folks,
I just noticed that the carpets on the front footwells of my 1997 Land Cruiser are just soaked, but I can't seem to see any water on the seats, the dash, etc.
I'm trying to figure out where the water is coming from.
I'm sure this is really common. Can you kindly please let me...
I didn't realize you could ship stuff Greyhound. I do have a depot nearby, Portland, Oregon. Do you have pix? I would prefer cloth, and if I can get the DS vinyl fixed, that would be great. How much would greyhound cost?
Thanks for replying. I don't know if it would help. If I remove the current tracks from the passenger seat, would your 1994 tracks allow me to 'convert' my seats to manual sliders?
I recommend doing a compression test, and also try Kano Labs' "Kreen". I'm wondering whether it is actually rod knock, especially since the knock is intermittent. If the bearings are shot, then I've always understood that the knock would persist. Kreen would act as an engine cleaner and it has...
Great save. Glad it's not going to the crusher. I personally would think hard about putting vinyl or some non-carpet material in there. I do not understand that a utility vehicle would have carpeting and leather seats. For me, it would be cloth (maybe vinyl) and definitely no carpet. That way...
Hi Joey,
I admire all the engineering you do for our old rigs. I am right at the point of changing fuel filter and would love to move to this setup. I'd even be happy to be a guinea pig. :) I searched the Wit's End website in vain....
Thanks,

I have done hours worth of searching, finding LOTs of threads on this topic, e.g.
Disable the EGR system the (mostly) Toyota way
1fz-fe EGR disable ?
EGR Problem???
I'm trying to condense these down to something simple.
It appears (if its legal in your area or if your rig is...
1) Compressing the Shock: I used a jack and jack stands to push the frame up. I have two FZJ80s, and the first one I did without jacking up the frame, and it was a bear to compress the shocks. The second one was really easy.
2) Putting penetrating oil on the upper bolts. I note that the upper...
OK, so the problem as I understand it (i.e. Cummins 6BT with stock FZJ80 transmission) is:
Cummins engine has a redline of 3000 RPM
1FZ-FE engine has a redline of 5000 RPM
Torque and HP curves are very different.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses, guys. I agree I would greatly prefer an NV4500 mated to the Cummins.
What makes the shift kit overly complicated?
Sincerely,
