Thanks - I noticed the new battery would not turn the engine so I put the charger on it - started fine - a few times then died after being parked - does the fact that I dropped in the battery and the engine carnked slow and would not start indicate anything? or just dumb bad luck?

74 FJ40 still running poor despite everyone's help. Here is where I am. Thing runs fine. Stop for 1/2 hour and restart it. It won't idle without full choke but runs fine at speed (rule out filter plugged). I think low idle jet. End up replacing tank (had a hole - different story) all fuel lines...

74 FJ 40 idling bad - actually stalls without choke - but OK at speed. It isn't the fuel lines, carb, pump, filter - can the EGR caus eit to idle so bad it dies? What do I do about that?
