Too many strange things happening to come up with a good title....please read.

Found the last bolt lol! Just did the leak down test and it looks like number 6 cylinder has failed. I've done an FJ60 2F head gasket in the past but this is a different animal. Any lessons learned on this job that would be helpful if shared? Trying to stay positive about this and learn as...

Too many strange things happening to come up with a good title....please read.

I pulled #6 spark plug and it looked fine. Not what I expected. I need to replace the valve cover gasket anyways so I decided it would be easier to remove the valve cover so that I can see which valves are closed to do the leak down test. Ive pulled all of the bolts and removed everything but...

Too many strange things happening to come up with a good title....please read.

Hello All, I did some repairs on my 1996 FJ80 (211K) yesterday and I'm having other problems that may or may not be associated. History: The truck through a code after purchase telling me there was a flow issue with the EGR system. Passed emission ok so I just put it on the back burner. It...

How does the 100-series stack up?

Ok, I realize the answers are going to biased because I would assume most on this forum love their vehicles. Just curious about your opinion of this model compared to other LC's. I have pretty much owned all of them at some point in my life. My wife has owned 2 FJ80 and currently drives a...

    Sticking Intake Valves??

Sorry Greg for taking so long to respond. I spoke with the machine shop and they are as perplexed as I am. I think I will replace the push rods and see how it goes. If it continues to have issues I will pull the head I guess. Everything in the valve train seems to work fine. Cross my...

    Sticking Intake Valves??

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. My 1985 (recently acquired) had sat for 13 years. I drained the fuel, changed fluids, new battery, new gas and it fired right up. I drove the truck for about 25 miles and broke a push rod because of a stuck intake valve. I pulled the head and...

    Brake Booster Mystery

Sorry it would not let me add text. Thanks for the picture! I'm not sure where than line is heading to off of the intake. That seem to be the most logical but this is the way I bought the truck. Don't I need vacuum to test the booster? Thanks

    Brake Booster Mystery

Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. Currently I do not have brake assist on my 1985 FJ-60 meaning it more coasts to a stop than actual braking. This truck sat for 14 years so I am running in to a lot of weird things. I just finished doing a valve job due to a stuck intake valve...

    Rear Seat Safety

All, I am interested in picking up another FJ-60 for my wife to use as a daily driver. We have owned an 84' that we both loved, but this was pre-children. Since then we have owned two FJ-80 that were wonderful vehicles, but they just did not have the same feel. So, the notion of buying...

Wanted WTB usable distributor for a F155 72'

To answer all. I just need something to get a truck back on the road for an elderly friend. The truck has sat for many years due to a botched carb rebuild and installation of a hall effect electronic ignition. Carb has been straighten, but the distributor is questionable. They modified the...

Wanted WTB usable distributor for a F155 72'

Will that work? I am trying to get a truck bad on the road for a friend. Someone at some point replaced the points with a electronic unit, thus loosing several parts and screwing up the vacuum advance. The carb does not have provision for a vacuum point.

    66' Carburettor question..which is correct?

Thanks to all that responded. Sorry for such a late response from my end. It looks like a the truck had a 155F installed at some point, a 72' according to engine numbers. The kit has been ordered and the carb is disassemble and cleaned. Two problems that I noticed, one the idle mixture screw...
