Reality is this isn't a brake job. You need everything because you bought a Michigan rust bucket that is covered in algae from sitting because someone already gave up. You might want to throw a new booster, master cylinder, and LSPV in. An 80...
You'll also need all new bolts which should be available from Toyota, plan ahead and order those with the parts list above. Definitely try to find some local Cruiser-heads to help you with the project as they'll bring their experience and tools...
Also, you can bend up you own lines for very low cost. It’s so easy a girl can do it!…just kidding about that, but a YouTube tutorial and simple tools can get it done. I help bend up and replace the brake hard lines on my ‘75 Fj40 restoration...
IIRC, the cover just comes off and the rotating assembly stays put. It's been several years, but I don't recall this being difficult. I think there's a gasket for the cover that you want to be careful with.
If you're still uncomfortable, then...
See the picture below from the FSM.
Remove the 3 bolts (RED) and gear cover. Hit the internals with some lightweight spray grease.
Remove the electrical connectors and spray them out with some WD40 followed with compressed air.
Jack up one rear...
Another likely issue is a torn intake plenum. The OBD1 FZJ uses similar fuel pump logic to the 3FE.
When the engine shifts on the mounts it could open up the split in the plenum and cause the flap in the AFM to close, shutting down the fuel pump...
The Toyota factory service manual (FSM) and electronic wiring diagram (EWD) are invaluable resources for every single system on the vehicle. If you plan to do any work yourself, they are must haves. Download from the resources section.

The common cause is the rubber "filler channel" that sits on the bottom of the glass and fits into the guide channel.
After 29 years, that rubber, and all the rest of the rubber bits on your truck, don't owe you anything more.
What happened is...
Our event doesn't focus on the raffle, it has always been more about the people and wheeling. Nevertheless we always have some cool stuff to give away but how our raffle works is after Saturday nights dinner and happy hour ( sponsored by...
Again, please download the Toyota FSM and EWD.
Why would disconnecting the coil output to the distributor rotor cause any issue whatsoever?
How would this effect ignition timing??? You said you didn't adjust ignition timing and that the engine...
OK, that's good. So ignition timing was not disturbed.
The distributor does not get "power". There is no +12 running to the distributor. Only the ignition coil and igniter get +12. Please download the Toyota FSM and EWD for your truck from the...
OK, I can see doing a general tune up and compression test, but messing with ignition timing should not have been on the table and should not have needed to be adjusted since THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING.
Rough idle can almost always be traced back to...
There is no mention of "clear flood mode" in the Toyota FSM. No idea if that is even a real thing.
DID YOU HAVE A RUNNING ENGINE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPTED ANY MAINTENANCE??
There is no part number for that gasket. The dipstick assembly is 87240-60170, but has been discontinued.
I would try to remove the existing gasket and match it with an aftermarket part.
I'll ask again:
Is the pulley not spinning freely? The PS pulley should turn easily by hand with almost no resistance.
What part is "squealing"? The 3FE has 2 idler pullies with bearings.
How old are the belts?
Are they OEM belts?
Both of my diff drain plugs had been ground down to almost nothing. Even the face of the allen head was almost paper thin.
I had my local hot rod shop grind off what was left of the old rings and weld in a thin piece of chromoly pipe for both...
I'm not sure what you mean by "my power steering pump pulley started squealing the belt".
