Nothing wrong with a 72. I like the looks and the steel on the older 40's but that's all personnal taste. If you going to do mods: Disk brakes, tranny swap, power steeing they make great Toys. As a completly stock, mostly street rig I would go 76 or later as they are quieter, and have a...
Sure, I used Honda Prelude seats but many others will work as well. You will need to do some fab work with angle or tube steel to mount the drivers seat to the frame over the tool box. The pass seat I just bolted down to the old seat botttom.
Both of my 40's; a stock 71 and a stock 74 will make 75MPH easy. I don't usually push them that hard, but they will do it. Sounds like your clutch is starting to slip some. Put it in 3rd on level ground and dump the clutch, see if it stalls right out or slips and revs a little.
The 10,16,19 splines are the out put ends going to the T-case. Wouldn't it be easier to go with a Chevy tranny SM465,420,NV4500 and use all stock GM parts . Then the only adapter would be to the T-case?
This is real common on older cars exspecialy the 40. Unhook the battery first, remove all fuses and clean the fuse holders with fine sandpaper, spray off dirt with electrical contact cleaner(from auto parts store). Check your drain hoses from the cowl vent, if loose or rotten it will let...
It's an 87 (I think) Astro van. I was afraid it might get more involved that just bolting on parts. I wish someone would market a chip or computer setup for the F/2F but I guess it's not that simple. I have my carb running pretty well at 7000 were I live but, I know it runs lean when I...
Thanks for the input. I think I will grab all the TBI parts now and set on them untill I have more $$ for a dist. and whatever else I need. If you run into any tricks or problems along the way please post if you don't mind. I know I'm fooling myself but would really like to do this over a...
I know were I can get all the TBI stuff off a wreck pretty cheap but will my stock 71 distrubtor with a Pertronix points eliminator be a clean enough signal for the Computer? Howell fuel injection said they can burn a new chip if I need it but I would need a clean tach signal. Has anyone used...
Classic Cruisers in Salida should have it. 1-888-376-2420. The Toyota dealer in Motor City has also be good about finding stuff for me, even things the other dealer said were not avaliable anymore.
Sorry
3. Don't know, hope I don't have to find out soon.
4. If your sure it's dead you could take it out and cut off the plunger so it won't ever kill the idle curcit. You might have some run-on after you turn it off.
If it is just hard to starte but tries to idle it needs a tune up.
1. Yes should be 12v between wire and ground.
2. If your giving any pedle at all it should starte and stay running as long as you keep it above idle. The selinoid just cuts the idle curcit out so it won't diesel.
