Yeah, I missed this one too. Been on the road a lot lately and just lost track. Great looking rig.

Thanks. I'm just outside DC, so had hoped it was in Charlotte. But am up for traveling to get the right rig.

Can you share more pics of the interior, close ups of the usual areas where rust develops, and under the truck? Also, you say ~160K on the replacement engine...safe to assume you've got another 3F in there? And, just so you know, I'm asking because I am actively looking for an FJ62.

Is it currently in Charlotte or Denver? Just wondering since the post mentions Denver in the title.

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

My latest target - http://www.ebay.com/itm/251491592377?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649. There is a nice rust free 62 in Tuscon too, but my better half greatly prefers this color over the tans and browns. I'm thinking of flying out to AZ and hauling ass to get it back home...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

Thanks for the advice. Makes a lot of sense, but I wonder what happens when I bring it back east. What might not start out as rust problem most certainly will develop into one. This past winter was a bonanza of road salt and I am sure it will continue in these parts. I've been doing a lot of...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

Any of you ever use this InspectMyRide service? I don't know anyone that could take a look at this truck up in MA, so figured I might give this a shot instead. About $150 for a basic inspection, seems like they send someone out to start the vehicle, drive it a bit, and take photos prior to you...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

CO, what rig in Texas? I'm not opposed to going that far or driving back on I-40. Done that drive from TN all the way to CA before and would to hit BBQ joints along the way, but I didn't see an FJ62 listing down that way. Did I miss something?

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

Well, I'm usually a cheap bastard, but it seems pretty clear that $2000 for an FJ62 means way too much rust or mileage for what its worth. Based on what I've been reading here and in other threads, I'm shooting for $3-5K and will hope for a bluebird along the way. That one up on Cape Cod looks...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

Yeah, I am trying to get more info from that seller, but I'm very interested in this one. In the meantime, if you really want to sell yours, let's talk. It might be too turdly for me, but you never know. PM?

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

So, look at this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/261437109424?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Seems like a good deal at the moment, but so few photos to go on. I've emailed the seller for more, particularly so I can tell what degree of rust might exist. But assuming...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

This is the core of my question and your answer helps a ton. Rust is the one thing that really concerns me. I figure I can replace just about anything, one way or another, but I don't want to have a body that is just falling apart everywhere. I guess I could find one truck with great bones...

To Buy A Turd or Not...That is The Question

That is great advice, man. No way we're getting an 80. I think they look pretty cool, but the wife just isn't interested. She is cool with me spending money and time on this thing, but it has to have aesthetic appeal in her eyes and the 60s definitely score points there.
