I edge learned how to post words between pictures.
As always the 40 was waiting on me when we got home, fired right up and put 20 miles...
Getting ready for another foray into the desert, I decided to do some deep cleaning and baselining on the Karma Cruiser. Got a dim headlight happy again, found a rub mark from a tie rod clamp that needed to be rotated, added a pegleg to my...
From here, it was a cannonball run to find the next place to stay for the night. We left Atlantic City in the rain and headed south.
We were hoping to find a spot to camp in the totally unknown (at least to us) Granite Mountains, but the rain...
So the burn ban which was now in place was very limiting. We learned that a Stage 1 ban in Wyoming means that fires are allowed only in developed campgrounds, which are not really our style. However, we found some good middle ground: these canvas...
Well no one is buying this 40, so I’ll just keep working on it. I’ve started feeding it immunosuppressants so that it doesn’t reject the GM parts I’ve transplanted in over the past few days (you SBC swap guys know what I’m talking about 🤣) . In...
One of the items on my "to do" list is to get the fuel gauge working. I've been doing lots of reading here on Mud, and I learned a lot - namely, that gauges and senders are not at all compatible across certain years. The earlier gauges (69-72ish)...
43’s use the same rear springs as 45/47.
We install steel 4-degree shims on all the lifts we do. I even manufacture my own brand of shims now since we needed them so often.
You are a Cruiser legend Matt, thank you. As soon as the Hilux is sold (waiting on BaT to go live, it's all approved and ready) I want to get you on this thing: brake lines, H55, etc. Can't wait to get her up to speed.
The list is getting...
Rustic green. Sorry, that's what I was thinking but said hunter. 72 is my favourite year 40.
Here is me at 3 or 4 years old on front of our 72 with the Wind River mountains behind us. 1973 this would be.
I'm about half way done installing...
I wish I could recall how I did the transfer case shifter on my 83..... but I can't recall. It looked very good though. I think I cut and welded the cane, but I'm not certain. I did have a 40 series top loader which I'd gotten in Australia...
Matt is a legend. He's been talking with me in private about what else we are going to do; very knowledgeable.
I didn't realise that about the 3F bell housing, but it makes sense looking at the isolator. Yet another thing I'll correct... the...
My fuseable link used to be by the right hood louvers and it was a 30 amp link if I remember correctly. My amp meter leads used to be fed directly from that fuseable link. I replaced mine with a 30 amp breaker and I have a separate lead going...
Finally got my 4plus tire carrier installed in between the kids’ baseball and softball tournaments. The only issue is that I should have gotten the tire + cooler carrier instead!
