100K miles and I've not hit one yet. Seen tones. Been close once.
X10 The one you see isn't the biggest concern... the one following it is more likely to get hit.
Big bumper.
Come to think of it for the 40:
Deer 0, Drunks 1.
His buddy...
I was scrolling through YouTube the other day and came across a video for a thermal imaging camera that you can install yourself. It claims to detect animals clearly even in total darkness out in the woods. It looks super useful for me—the video...
If the 68 is like my 72, there’s a nut that’s welded to a heavier-gauge reinforcing plate that is spot welded to the underside of the floor panel. When I repaired that section of my tub, I more or less reproduced the stock setup:
Two things added/done this morning:
Gamiviti dash accessory mount installed. I had been looking for a way to mount my phone on my dash, because my 20-year-old GPS that is mounted up next to the rear-view mirror is slowly sh!tting the bed...
Documenting an 11/72 FJ40 refresh.
It’s been my wife’s car for the last 17 years. We drove away in it when we got married, etc. Got lots of sentimental value.
Little has been done other than basic maintenance since she got it. Currently sits...
Webers don't need a return line. You may have to run a regulator though as they are finicky about pressure. When they are dialed in, they are great but they take some time and each vehicle is different. That's my experience with them, anyway.
FWIW, I ordered a pair of rear wheel cylinders from cruiserteq on Monday afternoon and received them Wednesday afternoon in OH. Price was fair for Japanese made products and shipping was fast. Pretty much a no brainer.
Come on now... they haven't been a "$75 master cylinder" for decades. I bought a couple from Rock Auto when they started to get hard to get 5 years ago, they were $166.79. Next complain about gas not costing a nickle :D
I can't speak to personal...
I realize that many here are making a living off of the increased value of these old vehicles. I don't want to see their livelihoods affected but...
I "think" I'll be really happy when nobody wants them and I can stop worrying about where I park...
I built my truck to use it. Hunting rig, camping, back trail stuff. Hand crank a.c. but it is heavily insulated on the floor, tub walls and fire wall for temp control and noise. All the body work and pretty paint has been dinged, scraped and...
@Ztrx “ it’ll never be a high end fancy rebuild worth 40k”
Haha…I said that same thing.
Another way to think about it is…anyone who has a clue about what it takes to get the truck to this level of drive ability will know what you have in it...
@EWheeler … I agree. I watch almost every Land Cruiser auction and local sales on the US internet while attempting to control the costs of what I spend on mine.. I think mine is a cut above many in cosmetics and mechanical. Of course...
I disagree, educated buyers prefer the mechanically dialed in original 40 over the shiny South American turds or domestic restorations with zero documentation. The mostly original well sorted 40 will hold it's value while the turds will come...
Flip kits for both axles
Dave added the partial pipe for get the center of the rim on to make it easer to line up the studs at no charge. I am 67 now and 217 lbs at 6-3 but my strength is different then when I was 210 at 34. I got the 5...
