Heh heh, you said “Mount horizontally…”
Sorry, I will go try to add value somewhere else since I am not contributing to the technical content of this thread…

Thanks for the reply @MiniPigg
I'm going to try running the 3F rocker assembly with later (1979-87) push rods and everything else stock 1976 2F...will see how it goes.
Got around to stripping the 2F head down.
Looks like it is not bad but one of the valve seats is a little crappy. May try to polish it myself. I am trying not to spend much on this experiment.
The head was full of trash.
The video is after...
We have some really smart guys here on Mudd, I'm hoping we can get a few to actually engage us in conversation then we can ask questions about what we believe verses what we read on the internet or was thought years ago by a guy that did the...
Well, manure. I sure hope my frame doesn’t slip on a banana peel! Not counting what I’ve already done to it, I’ve still got to weld on shock towers, and there’s a fair amount of vert on them!
I guess it makes sense. Hopefully the box tube frame...
@Hornd your neighbors right. @J Mack welding a frome on a rotissire instead of a platen or frame table is like welding in floor pans without cross bracing the pillars🤔🧐 You are asking for trouble. And if the heat is focused all in that 1 spot at...
For context these photos show some vertical welds that were posted on another thread. They are part of a beautification project and those welds are on top of existing factory welds.

Lot's of good info on the internet but this has some good conversation with some of our local Mudd guys. I know @SNLC @cruisermatt @NCFJ come down to the STY occasionally and maybe one of them would be willing to share with us if their opinion...
Welding on factory frames,
I think we need a light-hearted approach to discussing topics on a discussion board so I’ll start.
Hey @gonzopancho I apologize if I hurt your feelers asking questions about welding on factory frames, your frame...
Just wanted to introduce my self to the Pig community. I have had a few land cruisers at this point and this one is by far my favorite so far! I started my next land cruiser adventure! with a 1971 fj55 with a 2f and 4 speed out of a 1976. Did...
I sent my original 2F carb to Marlin before he passed away to have it desmogged and rebuilt. Kept a good mechanical fuel pump as well. Both sitting on a shelf now. Just in case I ever remove the Holley Sniper EFI. Of course I’d have to figure out...
You guys are makin me feel lazy!
Finally I installed the city racer Fuji carb, and took it for a spin. Kinda nice not having to constantly fight the sticking open throttle of the old carb. Still gotta do some dialing, but I’m not scared to drive...
Yep. The arms should not be level because of the gears. The driver side arm should be just a bit higher than the passenger. The window is still solidly in the channel thanks to J Mack’s duct tape trick.
