Been getting ready for Solid Axle Summit next week in Ouray, CO. Been there a bunch of times in my 100 but first time for the pig. Completed the following over the last 3-4+ weeks for my SAS trip:
- new Odyssey ODX ADM24 battery
- checked and...
Put on the PS scuff plate. Had to remove the old one to do so. Drilled out a few screwheads and pried it up. 50 years of spilled drinks and whatnot glued it down pretty well. Chipped out the glue with a wood chisel, color matched the interior...
Tech Tip: Wheel without your door mirrors. Pack a box half full of packing peanuts, wrapping paper and a small ziplok bag. Put the screws in the bag and your mirrors in the box at the start of the trail, put them back on the doors for the drive home.
I also used plain CO2 for awhile and it worked fine.
Check with your local welding supply but mine will exchange bottles size for size..
So you could buy one of these oxygen bottles and exchange it for a CO2/argon of the same size for $100.00...
I was given advice 42 years ago when I started buying welders for home use, buy your bottles don't rent, buy the biggest bottles you can stack on the back of your welder.
The long term savings over renting bottles is worth buying, I have several...
sometimes you can find used bottles on marketplace or craigslist, just make sure they are not in need of certification. Altho, the certification may still be less than a new bottle, depending on how much you need to spend to buy it in the first...
That was my assumption that the higher end machines were still assembled in the USA and everything else is import...
Well Bobby it's official I'm in the Booger Boi club..
Still waiting for the chiller that was backordered but I'll try it out...
Here’s a little bit of shocker for those of you who were on in the Birfield.com days and the early days of Mud…
Long time owner Cruiser Max sold his rig in late 2009 to @bashmatic who owned it until 2020. He sold it to someone in the Vancouver...
So glad I didn’t have to go that route. I used black fipg in a thin layer and tamped it back in with a soft piece of wood so as not to bend the flare end.
Grew tired of the runaway throttle, so I removed the OEM carb for a trip to JimCs, and cleaned up the top side for a temporary fuji carb. Anyone know if the airhorn from a late 2F carb will work on the fuji carb? The fuji carb does not have the...
Success!
Since it is available from Toyota, I hit it harder, used heat on the insertion point and PB Blaster then welded a tack onto the post to give the vice grips a surface to grip beneath and then whacked from below. I’ll place this in the...
you porbably already figured this out, but I had to drive mine out with a pin punch from the sump side - yes, the pan has to come off, don't bend it while removing it, and replacing it has a somewhat specific sequence. there is a thread for pan...
My recommendation while Fuji carb is loose/new - check the ICS o-ring, majority of the new carbs I have seen have a split, deformed o-ring. Also recommend swapping the float out for a genuine Aisan. I've had more than one float absorb the...
Somewhere there's a post comparing cam specs between stock and several aftermarket grinds. Just did a search but I can't find it. I can't recall if Delta's "RV" was the same as their "KC284" or if those are different profiles.
